Tall Oaks Shopping Cemter in Reston

What supermarket was located at Tall Oaks in Reston? It's now empty with a huge empty parking lot. What the hell happened? There are some hurting stores in the corner... How do they even survive?

It was orginally a Giant. It has been several different stores since then.

Two hispanic supermarkets followed. One of them went bankrupt. The other was based in the New York area and moved into old Magruder's location in Fall Church (Graham Rd?).

They aren't permitted to have signage on Wiehle Avenue, so there are a lot of Reston residents who don't even know about the shopping center since it's off the beaten path.

Is the Burger King still closed? That joint closed around 2002 and I think has been vacant ever since.

I've always thought they needed more visibility on Wiehle, or better yet, an entrance. I know they want to keep that part Weihle looking like the original Reston, but that poor shopping center will continue to fail unless they make some major changes.

Before Northpoint Village Center we used to always go to Tall Oaks. We actually went and started using their Giant again after our own Giant became full of incompetent non-English speaking clowns. Surprisingly, the Tall Oaks Giant hadn't changed much at all, and the people there were a whole lot friendlier and more like old Reston. We even ran into some acquaintances from South Reston. It was a shame to see the place go.

They used to have 7-11 at the entrance to the shopping center. It was vacant for a long time and recently a baby yoga chain opened in the location. That place is really inconvenient for dive-bys since you got stuck at the light when you leave, no matter where you're goint North-to-South in the direction of the office district or in the homeward commute.
