Meanwhile at Westfields High School
Date: February 23, 2012 01:43PM

Your son or daughter is getting involved in UNDERAGE DRINKING AND DRUG USE!!!! IS THIS THE KIND OF EDUCATION YOU WANT YOUR KIDS TO RECEIVE?????

Now as a parent I expect the Fairfax County School System to provide a safe environment for our children to learn. NOT A SCHOOL FILLED WITH JUVENILE DELINQUENTS GETTING PREGNANT, DOING HEROIN, AND DRINKING MALT LIQUOR IN THE HALLWAYS!!!!!!!

Eventually these mini felons graduate and ARE ACCEPTED TO INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING WHERE THEIR ACTIVITY ESCALATES AND INFLUENCES OTHERS!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the realization of teens in today's world! Not only does this occur at Westfield HS, but HS's across the nation.

Look into home schooling if you are such the perfect parent!!

Earth to Concerned Chantilly parent. All high schools have booze and drugs. Welcome to 2012. The key is having staff that try to prevent such usage of these items. Westfields and other schools have that.

Didn't you smoke weed or try beer in high school/college? Seriously?

These kids have moron parents like you, it's not exactly hard for them to get away with it. You've cited a problem, what's your resolution? Should police roam the halls? That behavior is a function of hormones and growing up, maybe you should try it sometime. I dicked around in high school but now I have it together, just like people older than you and I did.

As long as they take the bus home and don't drive i don't see what the problem is.

Does fairfax offer vouchers or have charter schools?

Ok, I’ll bite. We have all heard about problems with kids and drugs today and stories about former Westfield students. But what is your post all about? Is something new going on or is this more of the same discussion? And who is seeing kids drink or use drugs in the hallways? Are you saying that teachers are seeing this and ignoring it?

He/she may be a troll. If so, I am not sure the purpose There’s no explanation and the topic will go nowhere so the troll will fail. If there is something behind what the OP wrote, the OP needs to explain more so we all can discuss and learn.

Your child goes to Westfield, not Westfields.

Good point. Makes this sound more like a troll. A parent with a kid at the school would know the school's name.

Two words: PRIVATE SCHOOL

I'm paying $24K/yr for elementary school to keep her away from public school trash. A neighbor asked if I'm crazy. I looked at him polishing his Bimmer and said he's crazy for not doing the same, sending his kid to the snake pit. People got their priorities, I guess.

His older daughter was a waitress until some spic knocked her up...

“Back in my day” in Fairfax (late 80’s early 90’s), I didn’t see a lot of this. There was drinking at parties but I never saw kids drink or drunk at school. There were some kids we all knew used drugs, but not that many and I never heard about kids bringing drugs to school. These guys might not have come to school all the time, but nobody was using at school. Sounds like things have changed.

Wrong. We all heard and were told who did what and where. But people didn't bring their business to school. They knew better. Can’t say I didn’t go to parties where people drank. Some may have used drugs but I didn’t see it. Maybe a bad choice to stay at the parties, but I could have left or stayed home. Not true about school.

Maybe if you went to school in the 50s and 60s, then I could understand. But I graduated in 83 and I honestly don't think things are any different now than they were when I went to school, save for fashion and music.

Wasn’t in school in the 50’s or 60’s. Not certain that things are different now than they were when you were in school. Just saying that when I was in school in Fairfax most kids weren’t using drugs. Those that did seemed[ to use away from school. Kids did drink. But I never heard about anybody drinking during school. May have happened, don’t know. Fashion and music have changed.

I'l admit that, I never heard about anyone drinking in school. But people came in a 'lil tipsy, people brought weed into school, people came in high, people jumped the fence and smoked out in the woods. But rememeber this is the same thing our parents thought about us: the old adage "kids today are out of control".

Sure, I assume some kids brought drugs to school, but I don’t think many. If they did, they weren’t making it public. With all the rumors that worked around the school every day, I am sure if drugs were regularly in school we would have heard. Not saying they were never there, but drugs were not part of the culture. Some kids left school or skipped school and may have used. These were the kids we all knew about, but most did not do this.
Did not know anyone who was high/tipsy at school but that may have happened. Not judging or saying that the kids are out of control. Just saying that things sound different.

Not what I was saying at all. Things were not "pure." Point is that kids weren't bringing all of this into school when I was in school. At least not in my school. Sounds like they are now and we are saying that's ok. Not sure this is a good idea.
