Deadlines near for absentee ballot vote
Virginians who want to cast absentee ballots by mail for the March 6 Republican presidential primary must submit their applications by Feb. 28.
Only former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney and Rep. Ron Paul (Texas) will appear on the primary ballot. The other candidates — former House speaker Newt Gingrich and former senator Rick Santorum (Pa.) — did not qualify.
To vote absentee, voters must meet one of 18 eligibility requirements listed. Eligible voters may cast their absentee ballot by mail or in person at the local registrar’s office.
Those who want to vote in person can do so at their registrar’s office during business hours before March 3.
Virginia law does not allow for write-in votes in primaries.
