Database of LEO license plate #

Have a ALPR system i got cheap of feebay i want to mess around with. Wanted to put all the LEOS number in as a threat. Anyone know where to get this information? I have about 50 already marked, but manually marked.

All information would be private for personal use. Just a simple alert when Leo has been spotted by the ALPR. It doesn't sound like there is a db of #s so I'll just keep manually entering them.

So its ok for LEOs to have and use this equipment but not for regular people?
Maybe if FCPD werent a bunch of bored assholes it wouldnt be needed.

Don't you have to have special permission from Va state police to run tags? Seems like there is a law that would mandate that only those performing duties could run tags. Like cops, insurance claim workers, and the like. Secondly, picking a fight with the cops, especially anything that has to do with invading their personal life, will probably not end favorably. But hey, record on squirrel.

I dont need permission. First off im not running them, i dont get any information on the LEO. I can mark them and put a comment in for a personal reference but thats it. I am just testing this out for fun, not a criminal or stalker. Found a good deal on a ALPR that is compatible with my windows OS system in my car. I have had it alert a couple times before i noticed the LEO, not a life saver but still cool. I know this is ffxu and we are all fairfax dbags, including my self.

What i get when i see a cop i have marked -

If you can't tell it's a cop car, how would you know to mark it on your system?

Not completely obvious, you have to look around for strobes on the inside, it can be really hard at night. If i cant tell then i cant tell, what can i do? If i am suspicious of it but cant confirm it i can mark it and just comment on it as possible LEO.

The OP is not breaking any laws. There is nothing wrong with running an ALPR system on your car, it just will not have access to the Virginia DMV database, so the OP is simply making their own database of police vehicles so they can play with their new toy / gadget. Sounds like a fun project. If you get it up and running, can you post a youtube video of your installation of it and and show it in action?

You may be able to get a list of license plates with a FOIA request, you'll have to look into that.

Can you program the ALPR to identify the "Government Use" text on government plates?

This is actually a good idea. It will alert if LE is around, based on the plate numbers the user has supplied. This could be a useful alternative to a radar detector if one could get enough plate numbers.

BTW, we should create a thread containing license plate #'s of police cruisers marked/unmarked. I could supply a few.

u have to be close for this to read the plate. if u are that close to a police car doing something wrong, guess what u idiot, your going to get a ticket. good luck with your dumb idea. the popo is going to stop u in one of their undercover cars you have no clue thats a cop. another dumb idiot thinking he can outsmart the police.
