While the PWC crackdown is probably having some impact, the larger factor, in my opinion, is the sub-prime meltdown. Many illegals either purchased homes or were living in rentals with sub-prime mortgages. Those houses/town homes are now emptying out as the foreclosure wave continues to rise. I would anticipate many illegal immigrants are moving to North Carolina or DelMarVa to work in the poultry plants or to the few areas in the country where construction jobs are still plentiful.
