phone is about the same as with anyone. I have internet with cox and its pretty bad especially if you are trying to upload something. Took me about a minute and a half to upload a single picture from my camera. I am thinking about checking out verizon. I wouldnt recommend cox.

I have the cox high speed internet and the phone. Both work very well. It's fairly rare for it go out and the phone is just like any other phone service since it's over the same phone lines.

If you can get FIOS, get that.

It's a good service, however I have it programmed to call and wake me up, but it did not change, and therefore I overslept. I had to re-program it to the time that I wanted the wake-up service.

Harry - what are your reasons?

I only have the high-speed internet, which is really wonderful; it only goes out very rarely. My roomie is often uploading and downloading large files and there's been no major problems yet. I've not heard the best things about the Cox telephone service from family members so I did not sign up for it. It also worries me having an additional service from Cox, for they usually mess up billing and if you ever have a problem it is impossible to resolve.

My brother got FIOS and swears by it. It's not available in my neck of the woods, but will probably switch when it does.

IMO...I think fiber is a little over rated. I switched from Cox tv/internet to Verizon Triple play about 3 months ago. I switched because of the price mainly $100 per month for 2 years.

HDTV: picture quality is about the same (at least I can't tell the differance and I am picky).
Phone: I've always had verizon land line so I can't comment
Fios internet: is way slower then Cox internet when downloading big document files it's about the same though for watching movies and general web browsing. Just my expierence

The only caveat is in the fine print of the 2 year contract. It states when your contract is up your fees WILL also go up...I wonder just how much?

I don't watch TV, so its internet for me only
15/2 plan works great.

I have the full package from Comcast including phone. The cable guy came out and installed a new modem and it only took about 20 minutes. As for the phone not working, it has never happened.

The cable device that the phone line is plugged into has an 18 hour backup battery on it. Even when the power is out I can still plug in an old phone into the modem and it works.

The nice part about switching from the phone company is that the phone service is cheaper monthly, more features such as three way calling and I have free long distance. Before with Verizon I was getting charged for every feature(caller ID, call blocking, answering service) and I had to pay for long distance calls. Free long distance is so nice.

I can even log into the internet and check all the numbers that have called my house and listen to voice messsages. It's a nice feature to be able to get reports of numbers dialed and phone numbers of those who called from the web.

Clear your computer of its programs running in the background, or some other issue on your end, There is NO WAY that FIOS is slower than a cable modem, sorry.

I have the medium price plan from Cox for interwebs and basic cable (was cheaper than internet only) and i pay 52.99 a month. it has been like that for as long as i can remember. I usually get at least 10 mbps Dl speed. not sure about up but probly between 1 to 2 mbps. I dl a lot of music and movies, movies generally take about 2 hours for a full length but a single song is right quick.

Screw Verizon, get cox. I havent had an outage in 4 years.

For 54$ I get 15 mbps at Verizon.

Cable internet is technology of the past.

Cox sucks... well you know.

TV, sucks, phone sucks..

Cable is blazing fast, downloading a gigabyte file in 22 mins.
Upload is not bad, but not great.. (cant remember the speeds)

My line is definitely not capped, I can leave my connection on for weeks uploading at top speed, and I've never hear a word.

Here what my total looks like from utorrent since last install.

Uploaded Downloaded Ratio
1.50 TB 150.81 GB 10.20

Anyways, im sure FiOS is faster, but do they limit your bandwidth?

Verison limts everything. Those hidden charges: look on your bill. Its liek Verizon's surchages or somethings like that and it makes up the 4.99 part of your bill. Plus Verizons tech support sucks and their repair people take ages to get here. I had to wait a week once for my normal phone to get fixed. The problem ended up being in a box up the street and i still got charged. Cox sends a person out a person the same day or next day and i dont pay a thing. And thir tech support is local.

Have Cox phone/internet. System itself has been fine, once working, my only gripe was with the customer service. After install, phone went dead. Cust service said they will send some one out between 3-6 next day. 6:45 next day, called them and they said I never called, hmmmm. Called back next day, and they said I did call on sunday, but they messed up. Finally came out and got things running again, original install forgot to put new battery in for back-up, so called again. 1st service person wrong, said can do web, not phones. 2nd person provided battery and on my way again. During this 2 week period, Cox's cust service line would hang up on you because all agents were busy. Have fun....

why order phone from verizon?

Skype is the way to go.

Unlimited calling in USA and a local incoming # for $3 a month.

works great on fios.

no 911 service and if you do call the number directly, it wont show the number with address you are calling from.

it's also dependent on a windows computer, however, you can buy some pricey phone equipment but again, it's not your normal phone. if they embedded it into a voip router, i would use it and program in direct 911 emergency numbers.

Cox telephone is good...no problems so far.

Vonage sucks - quality is horrid and often full of static.

when you dial 911 on a cell phone, locator feature goes ON.

even if it was disable, 911 dial enables it.
