New York Style Pizza Parlors

I've been here for a few years and I'm by no means a food dick. I just want to know if there are any good old New York style mom and pop pizzarias in the western fairfax area. Thanks for the suggestions!

Church Street Pizzeria in Vienna is the best NY style pizza, or just pizza, in the area.

There are a couple of sit-down places in DC like 2 Amy's and Matchbox who make a good pie but most of the (non-chain delivery) pizza in NOVA comes from the Greek-owned family restaurants and it's soft and doughy and thick and soupy with way too much cheese or whatever the hell else. It's pure slop.

If you don't already have these things, invest in a small Kitchen Aid mixer and a pizza stone. You'll be the goddamn pizza king.

Is "New York Style" "pizza" "parlor" code for a place to get a fake ID, or a handjob?

He reviews Tony's, which is the closest I can think of, although probably not what you're looking for.

Santini's in Reston. Near the Home Depot. Closest to NY pizza I've seen around here.

Try Petes Pizza or Goody's in Arlington. They both have excellent pizza.

not this thread AGAIN. How many pizza threads do we need?

Best around, Pomodoro, Fairfax Corner and Dulles Town Center.

When you are looking for a good, independent pizzeria in NOVA...the first step is to AVOID any establishment that uses "NY" or "NY Style" in their signage, menus or promotional materials.

2 Amy's is great, but I definitely don't consider that to be "NY style" pizza.

Church Street in Vienna is a good choice.

The other plus to Church Street Pizzeria is that after you eat you can go and visit nearby Midgetville!

Are there any near window tinting shops? I'd like to enjoy a pie while I get my windows tinted.

That's probably just because you are thinking of by-the-slice joints and not the super old school coal oven places like Lombardi's and Grimaldi's. "New York Style" just means round and thin and foldable.

Yeah, that's what I was referring to. Don't get me wrong, 2 Amy's makes awesome pies, but I'm thinking more like this:

That is definitely what most of the slices look like in New York (slice joints that you can find on any block that are often run by Albanians) but the oldest places in the city serve pizza that looks more like this (thus the 2 Amys reference):

Malek's in Springfield is really good NY style pizza.

Maleks is not New York Style. It's Greek family restaurant style. Heavy duty crust and a half inch thick layer of dense, rubbery, salty, low-grade cheese.
