Women Denied BC

Question for the ladies....Do you think a pharmacist should have the right to not fill your birth control prescription because birth control is against their religious beliefs? Imagine being the victim of rape and being denied the "day after" pill because your pharmacist happens to be a religious phanatic!

Think this is just a hypothetical question designed to enflame your emotions? NOT! State Senator from Springfield, Ken Cuccinelli supports the right of professionals to refuse to perform an action that is inconsistent with their moral convictions without losing their job...in other words they have the right to deny to fill a prescription issued to you by your Doctor. You could even be denied the purchase of a condoms if that person objected on religious grounds!

http://www.cuccinelli.org/is-freedom.shtml

You all will be hearing from Mr Cuccinelli again. He is one of the "darlings" of the VA Republican Party and rumor has it he hopes to be our next Attorney General. Undoubtedly those words will be removed from his web site before he does that. Why not tell him now what you think of his idea of personel freedom..send him an e-mail.

yes, it absolutely is. if you are a rape victim, you call the cops which will take you to the ER where they collect evidence and you will receive medical treatment which will (unless you refuse) "plan B" aka "the morning after pill."

besides, do you really think someone who is a religious fanatic is already handing out birth control? also, there are usually two pharmacists at a single location.

Gravis...explain to me how you think Mr Cuccinelli's plan is the right public policy decision?

Right now it would be against the law for a pharmiscist to deny treatment to someone because of their personnel religious views. When anyone obtains a license to medically serve the public thats what they should do...serve all the public regardless of their personal views. Having 2 pharmicists on duty isnt the solution!

If someone has a moral problem with dispencing the medicine, they need to find another job which does not conflict with thier faith.

Fearmongering? It's on the State Senator's web site! Ok...maybe the rape example was inflamitory....but this kind of policy (and others enane policies) are the basis of Ken Cucinneli's entire political career....and just wait...he will be running for state wide office as soon as he can.

hey Vince, why don't you ask the Governor of NY what he thinks. He's just like you, a sleazy Democrat, so you'll get along just fine.

Tia2 asked you a question, Vince. You have become angry when people don't answer your questions. And, yet, look at you. What a fraud you are.

A pharmacy is a private business. The pharmacist can do anything he\she wants.

Tia2...look at the web site I placed in the very first comment...ahhh heck, here it is again

http://www.cuccinelli.org/is-freedom.shtml ..here it is quoted

Conscience Clause: I support the right of professionals to refuse to perform an action that is inconsistent with their moral convictions without losing their job.

Needless to say it is written more generically....but this is it.
