I'm on the verge of winning a competitive bet with a friend, looser buys the entree for the winner at his restaurant of choice. Anyone know the most expensive restaurant in the area? Ive found $300 caviar entreesbut I'm sure there are more expensive places. Lets hear them

Not that it is that close but The Inn at Little Washington. Prices are through the roof although no one wants to admit it is just a pretige thing. the food is above average in my opinion. If you do choose there dont expect the person to be your friend for long.

What not go to the Brazilian steakhouse in Fair Oaks Mall, above average in expense but its in a mall so you are not really screwing him over too bad.

What a bud! Why not just take him to a hotel and bend him over there before making him pay for the room? Be sure to raid the mini-bar also as that's expensive, too!

With friends like you...

(The steakhouse at Fair Oaks is a good idea. Great place and worth the few extra dollars. I eat there often.)

How about a gay bar since only gays use the term "figs"

This is a great restaurant. It also has a nice little Inn hence the name. I would say it is more for couples and not two guys. Now if the guys are gay then go.

Expensive restaurant in Fairfax would be Morton's in Tyson's.

2941 in Fairview Park in Falls Church is very good and pricey.

If it's two guys going to dinner, better probably make it a nice steakhouse - plenty of them in the surrounding area. Morton's, Ruth's Chris, Flemings, Shulas all in Tysons, and a bunch more (chain and non-chain) in D.C.

Little Inn, L'Auberge, etc. are more fancy date type places (if it's only 2 people).

Try to score a table at Komi or Central, both in DC. Tasting menus run about $130-$170/pp. You can get to $300 with a bottle of wine. What's the bet?

Vidalia in DC is one of the best meals I've ever had. It's pretty expensive, particularly with wine/pairings.

If you are really trying to do this and not look like two guys going out on a date.. then I would suggest

The Hamilton, or the Old Ebbit grill. I bet two people could rack up about 250-300 bucks or more at the Hamilton, and not look like a couple on a date.

Any High end Tapas place, if you have heard of the chef, its probably expensive. My girlfriend and I racked up $600 for 3 people with drinks.

Steak house

http://www.charliepalmer.com/Properties/CPSteak/DC/Menu/

about 350 per person with/out drinks

Of if you want to go out with your boyfriend at least do it in style

www.citronelledc.com Michel Richard's Citronelle 250-300 person w/ drinks

Mortons in Reston will set you back a penny.

No one making a six figure salary would confuse looser, with loser. I'm more interested in the bet than the place where these two fancy lads are going to blow their first wad of the night....

I would go 2941 - taken the wife there for special occasions a few times. You don't want to spend the night with him so don't bother with Inn at Little Washington. Komi's very, very hard to get into so probably not worth going for that.

You can also hit him for any of the nicer steakhouses. Cap Grille, etc. A good meal with wine will run you in the $200 range for two people.

For the life of me, I do not understand the appeal of 2941, but most people love it. Go if you have an adventurous palate. By the way, it's easy to get lost around that complex.

The bet was a biggest loser type setup, who could loose the most weight in a fixed amount of time. Michel Richard Citrionelle looks like it might be the winner

Morton's sucks ass since they invited most of the 'hood over for dinner. Try Capital Grille instead.

A few options...

Hilltoppers at the Goodstone Inn and Estate, Middleburg, Va
J&G Steakhouse, DC
Kinkead's, DC
Ruth Chris
Capital Grille
Adour at the St. Regis, DC

Or you can go with Komi
(KOMI serves a set multi-course dinner for $135 per person, beginning with a series of mezzethakia – small, light dishes – and progressing to heartier flavors, including pasta and a family-style entrée, followed by desserts. There are no printed menus. We offer an optional wine pairing for $70.)

But if you're really trying to push the envelope, pick a restaurant in New York City. I'm sure they've got pricier choices.

My wife and I had our 10th anniversary dinner at Citronelle. It was close to $400.

CityZen at the Mandarin Oriental is excellent and quite pricey. We went there for my wife's birthday one year before we were married and the bill for the tasting menu for two, with wine pairings, plus tip, came to around $515 (about $50 more than Citronelle). The Inn at Little Washington was more expensive, but it's also a much longer drive. Note also that the Inn at Little Washington charges more on weekends ($158 Monday through Thursday, $168 Friday and Sunday, $188 Saturday; none of those prices include wine, tax, or tip). The Chef's Table costs a few hundred more.

Vermilion on King Street (corner of Fayette) is very good and is a lot less expensive. We took my mother and father there last month for my father's birthday. The tasting menu with wine pairings, plus tip, cost us less for four people than CityZen did for two, and the meal was excellent.

Trummers on Main in Clifton. Best $300 you can drop ever! Or if you don't have $300 I can take a dump on a plate and grind some pepper over it. Might taste better than their food

this thread is precisely why NOVA sucks, see other thread- pretentious aholes full of themselves "bachelors making 6 figures" doing nothing that benefits anyone, some stupid "administrative" job (I mean doing nothing of value for other human beings) just looking for ways to throw money away, heres a thought - donate it to something that actually benefits someone other than another stupid car...you drive like shit anyway.

Go to any of the fine restaurants previously mentioned. Get two appetizers from the menu, order two bottles of their finest wine, whiskey or champagne and you'll spend plenty! Show some class and skip the Sparkling Wine.

My favorite nice restaurant in the area is The Palm at Tysons Corner. The food is fabulous...especially if you like steak and lobster. Nobody in this area makes key lime pie correctly...but The Palm does. My favorite dessert is actually Bag 'O Donuts. I know...laugh...but TRY THEM. It's expensive. For two of us with a bottle of wine, it's usually around 250.

If you are still looking:

1. INN AT LITTLE WASHINGTON - Dine IN THE KITCHEN and select the Gastronomer's Menu. It is the best meal I have ever experienced and costs as much as a 5-day cruise.

2. KOMI - Price Fixe menu with wine pairings. The goat leg at the end is one of the best entrees you'll ever have.

3. CITIZEN - Overrated but if you want your friend to fork over the $$$ then select this on a weekend, preferanbly when something big is going on in the city as you can spot celebrities and big wigs dining along side you.

4. MINIBAR - Not the most expensive, but you can call and state you have $500 Think Food Group Giftcard that absoulutely must be used (you better actually have one) and they will give you a reservation (presently under remodel however).

Screw anyone who named things inlcuding The Palm, J&G Steakhouse, DC, Kinkead's, DC, Ruth Chris, Capital Grille, Adour at the St. Regis, DC - half of those are Groupon worthy - the rest wont break 500 for two. Vermillion is one of of my favorite DC restaurants but thats no more than 150 for 2 so save that when you are paying.

You guys make 6 figures and have no idea what expensive dining in DC is? Weird.

I believe that is what term "nouveau riche" is used to describe.
