Great American Restaurants

Anybody know how to get the nutrional information for the menus at the local great american restuaraunts. A google search doesn't reveal anything, and the websites don't have any listings. I've talked to a few employees and I know the Ozzie rolls are estimated at 300cals each...

A lot. I was up in New York for the day on Tuesday for a meeting and we ate at Mortons. The calorie content on the menu items was staggering.

My dad was going to use the Ruths Christ recipe to make Sweet Potato Casserole until he started reading it and learned that it called for 1 cup of butter, 2 cups of sugar with 3 cups of sweet potato.....not very healthy.

Let me preface this by saying that I usually dont eat fast food, but I certainly have nothing against it besides quality of taste...

That being said, it's annoying when I hear people yapping about how unhealthy Mcdonald's is and then they go order a 1200 calorie salad at their favorite restaurant. People never stop to realize that regular sit down restaurants are terrible for you and far worse for you than your average fast food joint.

For example, some restaurant's chicken Caesar salads can pack a staggering 1,080 calories. That is nearly the calorie count of Two, YES TWO, Big Macs.

Yup, most sit down chain restaurants are incredibly bad for you.

I remember Ruby Tuesday used to have a turkey sandwich on their menu with around 40-50g of fat. Just roasted turkey, cheese, lettuce/tomato, mayo, and bread. And they somehow found a way to make it worse than a Whopper. Unbelievable.

A lot of that also has to do with the serving sizes...probably why Cheesecake Factory earned an F from the "Eat This, Not That" people. Meaning you cant find anything on the menu that his "healthy".

This may seem lame but my chick and I often split entres and avoid each of us taking home left overs.

You could feed an entire family off one entree at jizzcake factory.

I am always amused when you and another person go in to one of the mega chain restaurants and order an entree and an appetizer and share them. The wait staff looks at you like you are being some cheap bastard. Fact of the matter is that I do not want to consume 11,525 calories in one sitting.

Its actually ass backwards because if you want to go to a restaurant that serves less food (Tapas, French) you actually end up paying more.....and the food is still aight. F THAT!

I'm not cheap but I i'm not stupid money either.

Teach yourself to cook. End up impressing your significant other and save a whole lot of green.
