Why only one Checkers in all of Fairfax County?

Looking at their website I only found one Checkers in Fairfax County, on Route One Hybla Valley. I demand access to food that is filled with fat and calories.

Same reason why there aren't any Sonics in Fairfax.

I though this was common knowledge but, it's simple socio-economic differences. Go on Google Maps and look east of the Mississippi and see how many Sonic's are north of Richmond. Then look how many Chipotle's are south of Richmond. This is Chipotle country. Yuppies (/beaners) like Chipotle, rednecks like Sonic. Checker's I want to say is like the north's Hardees. There aren't many of either here because D.C./Fairfax is that no man's land nobody wants to touch.

Checkers used to have a lot of locations around this area. Manassas had like 4! I remember they closed the one off of 28. You could never tell anything was there, great food though I kind of miss it

I think it may be that many in the area don't like the whole drive in drive out thing with Checkers and Sonic. It kind of cheapens the already cheap experience of fast food.

Screw Checkers, what we really need is Waffle House.

There's a "Wafle House" on Mt. Vernon in Alexandria does that count?

Maybe it's real estate costs? In Alexandria there are a few McDonald's and Popeye's but there's not alot of space for fast food joints, maybe that's the same in Fairfax.

I think IHOP is the north's answer to Waffle House.

If you drive south past Fredericksburg, Waffle Houses seem to be everywhere on Route 1.

I don't think I agree with your assessment. I live in Vienna,(the land of yuppies and jackasses) and people are lined up 5-6 deep at our McD's drive through all day. I think a Checkers would do great here.

Ok, here's the data culled from Chipotle.com. This is a list of Chipotle's south of Richmond, however I did not include the portion of Southern CA south of Richmond. Total Chipotles south of Richmond is 152. They are as follows: NC 11, SC9, FL 44, AL 3, KY 27, TN 5, AL 3, AR 1, OK 7, NM 1, AZ 41.

Sonic's locator on their website is not working...I'll check back with that data upon its availability.

The south, or at least north carolina, also has a place called Cook Out. THis is also a drive through only establishment.

Actually there are 2 cook outs in Richmond and one is being built in Blacksburg. A meal is damn cheap, thats about all it has going for it.

I wish they had more Hardee's around here. The same place in California is called Carl's Jr. The only Hardee's near here is at the bus station in DC, if it is still there. What a shithole.

Oh man, I miss cookout. Although their prices have gone up in the past 6 years...

I used to be able to get a double-hamburger, hush puppies, french fries and a milkshake for $5.

Oh, and they have about 60 different flavors of milkshake that they let you combine in any way. Yummmmm.

The closest Waffle House is in Dumfries but it isn't even 24 hours so it doesn't count. The real Waffle House experience is in Fredricksburg, 24 hours, greasy table top, nice southern waitresses, coffee, and a waffle so rich in flavor it turns your blood into butter and raises your cholesterol 1000 points. Mmmmm if I wasn't on a diet I'd be there right now ordering a stack of them with a big ass glass of whole milk to wash it down with!

They have sit in restaraunts too, 1rst one we found was drive through only. Still dirt cheap, hamburger is 99 cents for an honest to goodness not see through grilled burger. Platter with BBQ, hushpuppies, slaw and drink is only 3.99
