Ive looked at almost every website there is and applied at multiple places but failed to get a response. Does anyone know of any places that are hiring for part time jobs in this area?

well, I'm not really to picky about what I want to do, but I'd like either working in a food area( hostess/ waitress is fine ) or in a retail store ( cashier,sale associate, customer service is fine.) I am only 17 years old that's why I'm struggling to find places that will hire.. I'm looking for AT LEAST $8.00 a hour.I'm not specifically looking for only nights and weekends, I could work a few hours after school during the week.

As a small business owner, I stopped hiring teens years ago. Among other things, they'll rob you blind and they only show up when they feel like it.

So good luck. Have you tried mall retail at places that need a "youthful" image like Hot Topic, etc.

Was in new Fairfax City Wal Mart the other night. before xmas they had lots of night stockers but this night very few. guess a lot of them were making xmas cash and then quit

Why don't you try Macy's as well? They are always and I mean ALWAYS hiring people. As weird as it sounds, at least when I was there, instead of going on a hiring spree of seasonal associates for the holiday season they hire more people once the seasonal employees leave. So worst comes to worse you can always use them as a back up plan, not promising you will like it though. Some managers could be real robot dicks. Good luck though!

The retail industry is more full of kids 18+. At 16 - 17 it's hard to land a job. Most employers won't take a chance on kids under 18, because they are immature. Not to say that an 18 year old is that much more mature, but there is a difference.

Your best bet is to know somebody who can get you in. But don't make them look like an ass for recommending you by you just jerking off and not being a hard worker.
