Buddy just followed by nut & arrested DWI
Posted by: just a friend ()

We grabbed dinner at Glory days and were leaving for a party at a private home when some nut decided to follow us. We were not swerving, driving reckless or fast but this idiot followed us and lied to the cops (said we were all over the road). I don't even drink and would have gladly drove but my friend was fine. This .08 crap is ridiculous my friend is locked up and can't be released until tomorrow morgining ! I went back to Glory days and the same asshole in the Honda Van that was following us is in the parking lot with another fool in a white Nissan Vista. They have binoculars and are spying on the bar and Glory days. I'm spying on them. Videos of these jerks will be made available to anyone arrested by their want to be cop adventure. Bizarre people wasting their time on a New Years.

Its funny how EVERY story here is from people the COPS abused and have never done anything wrong. You dont even need to blow a .08 to get a DWI and if he blew a .08 its cus thats what it was not because the cop made it up.

I'm calling bullshit on this whole story. Odds are you just don't like Glory Days. In any case, the .08 "crap" as you put it is a well known law.

Everyone with a driver's license knows that .08 is the legal limit.

Everyone with a driver's license knows not to drink and drive. AKA, don't fucking drink and then drive. The common sense rule translation: "if you're going to drink, fine. like 2 hours before you are going to drive, switch to water, soda, or iced tea and chug that shit. Pee a lot. Chug more. Pee more. Then, if you're feeling totally normal, then drive. If at any point you did shots, don't fucking drive."

This isn't rocket science dude. If you feel like you might have a buzz, don't fucking drive.

Where these nuts who followed you cops?

I always keep my bar bill to show cops.

Got stopped last year on January 1 by cop who said I was driving all over the road. total bull shit. I hadn't even had anything to drink and the cop was a good 400 yards behind me when he decided to rush up and pull me over.
I think the cops like to do a lot fishing this time of year.

Just saw on tv France has new law requiring drivers to have a breathlyzer in their car. sounds like good idea except for the possible expense

Paranoid much? The breathalyzer doesn't lie. If a cop arrested you and said you were intoxicated only to have the official test they are required to perform at the station show a 0.0 that cop would be in deep trouble.

False arrest, violation of civil rights, etc. Thats a serious lawsuit that any lawyer would take.

I doubt that. They're tight with the people that make the laws. If they follow procedure and establish probable cause, they should be covered. It isn't right or fair, but it is that way. How else do you think they can pull someone over for "driving while black" here?

Ye Olde Joke Time:

One night a police officer was staking out a particularly rowdy bar for possible DUI violations. At closing time, he saw a fellow stumble out of the bar, trip on the curb and try his keys on five different cars before he found his. The man sat in the front seat fumbling around with his keys for several minutes.

Meanwhile, all the other patrons left the bar and drove off. Finally he started his engine and began to pull away. The police officer was waiting for him. As soon as he pulled onto the street, the officer stopped him, read him his rights and administered the breathalyzer test to determine his blood-alcohol content. The results showed a reading of 0.0.

The puzzled officer demanded to know how that could be. The driver replied, "Tonight I'm the designated decoy."

If that was really the case, then it would be verified AGAIN with another test at the jail and he would be released. Your story is BS as usual for FFU.

Exactly. Heres the real story. They were out his friend drank to much, he thought the friend was fine when legally and probably in reality he wasnt. He let him drive drunk on new years eve. A cop pulled them over and his friend got caught and went to jail

Oh no cops in Fairfax County never abuse their power or act like complete jerks, that's just non sense. As for the people in the parking lot at Glory Days I hope someone takes a massive shit on their cars and their daughters get pregnant!

No no the OP is right this happened to a buddy of mine. As ridiculous and far fetched as this may sound these people are actually homosexuals. It's fucked up what they do. They go into the bar and try to hit on straight guys and when you tell them to "get lost," they follow you outside of the bar, call in your license plate number to the cops, and say you're drunk. Really pisses me off to hear shit like this!

Again this is all BS. Cops dont pull cars over because someone called their license plate in.

It is true; if they spot the plate/vehicle, they will follow and once they observe inebriated driving or a traffic offense, they can and will pull you over.

But, you are right, they cannot simply pull you over based on a private citizens observations; they have to observe you commit the infraction.

Exactly they have to see you do it. The story above of the gay guys calling the cops on you if you say no is garbage for this reason and the fact that if you dont give them a name they rarely take it serious and after taking their tips a few times and seeing nothing they will start to ignore that person when they call

The OP sounds like BS. I call bullshit. I'm guessing somebody with a grudge against Glory Days.

However, yes police can pull somebody over off of a citizen complaint. I hear "lookouts" all the time for reported drunk drivers. Most of reports also accompany a complaint about a driver that can't maintain a lane, almost hit another vehicle or forced somebody off the road.

In order to issue a ticket for drunk driving the officer needs to observe some behavior that warrants the stop.

No the police cant pull someone over for just getting a call from someone. They can come check it out and if they see suspicious things then pull you over. But they dont pull people over just off of a call in to avoid these exact stories from happening where someone gets mad and call the cops in retaliation. If its someone with a history of good tips thats a little bit different story.

If they dont see anything wrong when they get there most cops are going to leave it at that otherwise they have no evidence and its just a big waste of their time.

No if you observe someone on the road who is obviously drunk you can call their plates in and the cops will pull them over. I have proof! I was on 495 one time and this Mexican guy was driving 30 mph zig zagging all over the damn highway. I called state police and no sooner after I dropped my friend off and went the opposite direction a state boy went flying down the highway to pull the guy over.
