The Auld Shabeen in Fairfax. Watch out for wayward State Police cruisers, however.

Go to Ned Devine's in the Clocktower shopping center in Herndon.

I know you asked for Fairfax/Reston...but I'd also recommend "The Dubliner" in downtown DC which is the pub located at The Phoenix Park Hotel on the corner of Massachusetts Avenue NW and North Capitol Street, 2 blocks from Union Station.

And also Pat Troy's Irish Restaurant and Pub in Old Town Alexandria, 111 North Pitt Street.

Killer Reuben, not too big on the deep fried pickle though.

Somehow always have a great time when I go there. I believe there is also one over by route 7.

Highly recommend.

We'll take the niggers and the chinks. But we don't want the Irish! ...

Old Brogue Great Falls, Va

Also try O'Fallions (Spelling?) in Sterling.

I second the Old Brogue recommendation. It has an authentic vide. Auld Shebeen is ok but can be kind of quite and dull. Not as dull as Pat Troy's though - I can't believe that place is still open. (OT Alexandria also has O'Connells and Murphy's)

Devines is more of a "corporate chain" Irish pub.. but a decent place nonetheless. Also try McGreevey's in McLean - not an Irish pub per se but a nice small pub feel to it.

Auld Shebeen can suck my balls... Management is horrible, patrons are 21-24, smoking is allowed downstairs, sucks my balls, sucks my balls

I don't know if it would be typified as an irish bar but Dogfish Head in Falls Church and now Fairfax is where you should be going. They have a unique style and their own beers for the same price as a miller lite at most bars. Beyond that I agree about Four Provinces and Ned Divines (the one in Herndon not the pseudo-dance club).

The Auld Shebeen in Fairfax City. Awesome atmosphere, great food, a bit $ but worth it.

Totally disagree. Good food. Good service. You could do much worse at any of the above mentioned establishments. Unless you live close by or don't mind driving, it isn't convenient, but 4Ps is a damn good bar.

I really like the 4Ps in Falls Church. The outdoor bar that they added earlier this year is really great on a nice evening. Besides, it's within walking distance of a few other good bars (Doogwood Tavern, Clare & Don's, and Argia's), so you can "hop" around if you want.

There are quite a few (obviously), but the one I most often frequent is the Auld Shebeen.
Go on a Monday and all 'Irish specialties' are half off.
Good deal.
