The Westfield community is known for its mishaps and I think we all know how destructive many of its students can be...
...it was quite concerning to hear that ANOTHER Westfield graduate, joining James Madison University's Class of 2015...was ARRESTED. My son attends this prestigious university and I was under the impression that it was to be devoid of such shenanigans, at least from people from such a respectable community as Centreville or even Chantilly.
Now I hear that this kid, who I think is half-Asian and half-Black, was arrested for Possession under 21. Apparently he was so drunk and sloppy, they sent him straight to the drunk tank. JUST ANOTHER WHS GRAD GOING STRAIGHT TO JAIL.
IT'S SO SAD TO KNOW THAT THIS IS THE REP WHS HOLDS. ONCE A BULLDOG, ALWAYS A CONVICT.
This kid was said to be a typical lanyard-toting WHS student, skipping class to go to Chick-fil-a, skipping school together, and often misbehaving. It's so sad that this is what the WHS alumni community has come to. SO SAD :(

Oh wow that is very concerning to hear, but not at all surprising.
My daughter attend Centreville High School and I have always told her to stay away from those WHS kids..they are bad news. It seems like its everyday I hear about one of them getting arrested for drugs or alcohol. "Once a Bulldog, always a convict" ....couldn't agree more.

Thats funny, One night in a holding cell and a alcohol awareness class every tuesday night for a couple months and this kids record will be clear. Hopefully this kid will learn his lesson and be just fine. Its all part of the college experience.

Of course no Chantilly HS, Centreville HS, or Oakton HS kids have gotten arrested for possession under 21....that is an enormous generalization to say "once a bulldog, always a convict" when there are maybe 3 major incidents that stemmed from WHS. Out of how many thousand kids that have gone there since opening in 2000??

I'm not surprised that YET ANOTHER alumni from the area would disappoint. Our kids should be allowed to drink, but they should know their limits. Unfortunately, the community doesn't instill this in their kids...this is why there are so many problems w/ our kids when they go off to college.
The problem here is not that this kid won't move on with his life after a Possession under 21, but the fact that this kid most likely won't make it through the school year! Hopefully his parents will knock some sense into him.
...then again, they probably won't! Kids who are arrested like this didn't have the discipline there in the first place.

as long as he didn't hurt anyone i dont see what he did wrong, everybody spends a night or two in the drunk tank-nothing to be ashamed of- and thats true of all FFX high schools.

My take on your statement: 1.JMU is a good school (not great), but don't call it prestigious on this forum, people will grill you (by the way I went there) 2. Westfield does seem to have a lot of bad apples having known a few of them myself, but even the best schools in the county are very similar, I went to Oakton, the kids there are definitely not as much into bad shit as westfield kids but Oakton is not far behind. I think Westfield unfairly gets a bad rap. 3. It seems to me that you think a college student getting thrown in the drunk tank is a big deal. Underage drinking is a problem, but to think that this type of thing wouldn't happen at certain universities is naive beyond my comprehension. 4. If you think moving out of the westfield district will stop your kids from being exposed to drugs/alcohol etc., well then there is a lot you don't understand about schools these days. 5. You mentioned the kids race when it was not pertinent to the material of your story at all. This will make you lose credibility in your statements. Final Thoughts: You are clearly worried about what your kids might get into and what is going on in your community. Perfectly understandable. You won't fix things by moving, this type of behavior amongst young people in the area is universal. Just explain to your kids why drinking and rambunctiousness is not conducive to a productive life. If you are honest and not too authoritative when you tell them this they are more likely to listen to you.

i am actually laughing out loud at how ignorant this "concerned chantilly parent" is. i'm currently a student at JMU and as a freshman I was the only student in my dorm from WHS. almost every weekend at least one kid in my dorm spent the night in the drunk tank ... i didn't get in trouble once the entire year, while 2 kids on my hall from chantilly and 1 on a different floor from oakton all got drunk in public charges and we had to pick them up from jail the next day. it is absolutely ridiculous to say that westfield students are ruining colleges... grow up, once your child graduated from chantilly you should have gotten over that rivalry.
