Virginia nail technicians

Why are all the employees in the nail salons Vietnamese? I have never seen a nail shop employee that wasn't of this ethnicity. Is this true all over the US or just here in Va? Just wondering.

I think it's because opening a salon does not take a lot of money and American women live for our manicures...it's a win win situation...

Korean =drycleaning,
Vietnamese =nail salons,
Iranian (or Persian as they like to be called)= gas stations,
Indian=convince store/7-11
Chinese = pos Chinese delivery shop on every block

It is not a matter of money to invest. Immigrants that open businesses after getting a U.S. Small Business loan easier than a native can then also do not pay taxes for the first seven years of operation. What a great deal for them........................................................What do we get?

There was a story that back in the 1960's a Hollywood celebrity was visiting Korea/Vietnam and the woman admired her nails and manicure. She explained the importance that American women placed on their mani/pedi routines and this would be a great opportunity for the local population to learn a skill and immigrate to the United States. It has been that way ever since. These "technicians" are trained in Korea and sent here as virtual slaves until their training and travel costs are repaid.

Not only that these nail salons also like to offer to drop a buck off your nail service if you pay cash, but don’t ring it up in the register.

I’m in the middle of a pedicure right now. The staff here are all Vietnamese. Their business and professional licenses are prominently displayed next to the cas register. The notion that they are somehow flying under the radar on taxes is beyond world-class stupid.

And yes, you can get a happy ending at a lot of the nail spas. I do it all the time -- a lot safer than going to massage parlors.
