new apartment complex at dunn loring metro.

this has got to be one of the ugliest fucking things i have ever seen, maybe it would be better placed in an urban artsy downtown neighborhood. but right across the street is some colonial looking townhouses. wtf?

Really Bad colors and overal looks. Cheap sh*t $500.00 apartments for the artsy fartsy 20 year olds making $200.00+ a year, right? Just don't get it. Grotesque, institutional, soulless. The red and yellow lines are a pathetic attempt at disguising these qualities. It looks like a cross between public housing and an eastern European mental hospital. Let's start a petition to have it demolished!

Yep, definitely looks eastern European. Reminds me of the place where those kids went to get all ripped up in that movie "Hostel".

Probably cheaper than all get-out to build, although I think at least it is not made out of wood.

In the first picture, is that a balcony unit in the area surrounded by the red legos? If so, pretty f'in sweet.

Maybe one day that euro-trendy, lego garbage look will start to lose appeal.

Studios go for 1955, 1 bedrooms for 1775-2000+, 2 bedrooms almost 3k! NOT WORTH IT I dont care how new it is or how close to the metro is!!!!

If they use the 36x rent=required income formula like most places do, you have to make 72k a year to even begin to live here!!!

I bet they are simply pricing out lower income tenants on purpose. What we need in fairfax county is more apartments for us middle income earners (40-60k)...there are enough luxury apartments as it is! I can't think of one recent new building project where the rents were more reasonable (like 1200-1500)- so basically if i want to live in anythiing newer than 1990 I have to make 72k+ to get it. Sad.

Somewhere in the last four or five years, apartment architecture got wacky. Odd colors and asymmetrical designs are all the rage now. The apartment complex across the street from my neighborhood that just went up even got a Patch article about how ugly it is.

That area has been under development/re-development/torn the fuck up for years. Gallows Road looks like the damn Ho Chi Minh Trail. I'm convinced the various construction projects underway in the area will never end.

They built that neighborhood in an industrial area. The property is overpriced and nobody is going to purchase it. The builder and owners are going to lose money. It was a bad idea from the beginning.

I ate at the one in Charlotte a few months ago. It was nothing specials, and in fact. they couldn't get my burger order right and brought me three different burgers....none were what I ordered. The wings were ok, but overall, nothing too exciting. It's a more upscale Benigans.
