Mortgaged

$1,800.00
4 bedrooms
2 car attached garage, 3 bay stand alone garage.
2,950 sq ft for house only
1 3/4 acres
Hate the neighborhood, love the location. Wish the house was paid for, had to finance after major medical issues. It will be paid for again someday.

I do not like my situation. Oh sure, I'm 7 miles from my job downtown and I'm on the 10th floor with a great view and it's a corner unit with a wraparound balconey but, it's an old building and the HOA fees keep increasing whilst services and facilities are being cut. Most of the residents are government retirees who are more concerned about selling their units or maintaining their value until they do sell. And since they bought them for 56 cents back in the 70's they have a totally different outlook towards the future than I do. I've taken a second job and am plowing every extra dime into my mortgage. As soon as I'm no longer upside down on it, whether by a market rebound in pricing or paying down my mortgage, I'm outta' here. Thankfully, I have a '68 GTO to help me keep my sanity. The American Dream...yeah, it's the American Nightmare for me.

Like the situation b/c I am away from alcoholic husband and free...but...hate renting and having to worry about money now. Hope 2012 is a better year for me. :-(

Own (put 20% down)
20166
$2250 for PITI + HOA
3-bed, 2 + 2/2 ba
2-car Garage
2960 finished SF (inc. basement)
Townhouse, so little acreage

Best part is even though it's a TH we open up to a large field and playground behind us so other rows of houses are pretty far away. Plus big deck and nice patio underneath.

Also, about 5 minutes from 7 different shopping centers, so anything we ever need is close by.

What townhouses cost $475K in Leesburg??

Edit: I stand corrected:

http://www.redfin.com/homes-for-sale#!lat=39.10500389533983&long=-77.54588849436954&market=dc&min_price=425000&sf=1,2,3,4&sold_within_days=365&uipt=3&v=6&zoomLevel=13

But I do have to wonder about those on there that aren't in River Creek...

Maybe he drinks because of your fucked up attitude? you worry about money because you cant make it.
your pissed because your leaching days are over. now you will have to deal with the real world, and make it on your own. maybe you will understand why your ex drank.

Nope. Wrong. I work and always have. In fact, more than the ex. When there are expenses for TWO households you tend to worry about money, you judgmental idiot. Continue bullying on the board. Maybe it will make you feel better about yourself. Am signing out. A few of you have ruined an interesting poll. Maybe some decent people in Fairfax will get the thread going again. Or, maybe not.

^^^^
that is your problem, you work. If it was me I would quit my job and be knocking on Sharon Bulovas door asking about the luxury condos she gave out recently. Maybe one of them can be yours for the asking.
I am not bullshiting either, if you have worked most of your life it is time to sit back and take it easy for a change, thousands of others in the county are why not you.

Overall, we were worried about the house value for a while but not so much anymore. We have a nice little piece of land with good neighbors and can walk to just about everything. Would be happier if we bought the house at the bottom of the market, but otherwise we can't complain.

Go on welfare, or sue the ex. work the system like the illegals do.
pull a foreclosure on the home your ex is living. Why are you paying for two households anyway?

rent
22066
$4,000/mo
4BR
2 car garage
guessing 4,000 sq ft
over 2 acres
like and hate situation: paying too much rent, for a place that needs a ton of work = the hate part; like, because, I enjoy watching housing prices sink slowly lower. I hope.

Please take advantage of the Sharon Bulova luxury condos.
Welfare is not what it used to be. Now you get a nice place to live, food stamps for one around $500 a month and remember that is for just food so you will probably eat better than you ever did when working.
Free medical, something that would cost you $600 a month when you worked for a living.
Its yours for the asking, you are entitled to it.
