I would say it's an alternative, nontraditional form of worship. No altar flowers or soothing hymns but it does have loud rock-style music and a charismatic preacher. Large screens project song lyrics and graphics for sermons. Comfortable theater-style seating and come-as-you-are dress code. There's a coffee shop in the modern lobby. Good for people searching for something different but not those who are used to a particular religion.

Sounds like one of the thousands of "we're super hip" churches that are trying to stave off the inevitable decline of organized religion in this country.

The hallmarks of these churches are:

1) 'Rock' music during worship
2) Flashy multi-media presentations during sermons (or in place of them)
3) A trendy pastor who's older yet 'cool' ("...dude has a podcast!")
4) Lots of social events for singles
5) Younger, trendy parishioners who spend enough on their Sunday best to feed a small starving village for a week.
5) Behind it all, the same old church with the same old stale corporate message.

Add to that:

The land alone that this church sits on is worth more than $1 million. (MAP #: 0672 01 0013A) and is assessed at more than $5.5 million.

How many poor could have been helped by those millions of $$'s?

Matthew 19:23-24

"Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God"
