In the seven years as the Giant's head coach, Jim Fassel had only three winning seasons. Two of the three seasons he went to the post-season, the Giants were beaten in the Wild Card round. The year he took the Giants to the Super Bowl, the Giants lost to the Ravens 34-7 in one of the most embarrasingly bad Super Bowl performances off all times (5 turnovers, 16 drives ending in punts). Fassel is such a great coach that Brian Billick had to fire him as the Ravens' offensive coordinator midway through the 2006 season. He was so loved in Arizona, where he was the offensive coordinator for a while, that he has been passed over as head coach more than once.
Jim Fassel is the Skins head coach for only one reason - he will do whatever Dan Snyder tells him to do. They are going to adopt a West Coast Offense, meaning the entire team is going to be gutted again the way Spurrier gutted the team for his "Fun and Gun" offense after Schottenheimer put together a run-first offense.
This season will suck. I plan to follow the Ravens this upcoming season.
