That breed is not called a German Shepherd. That breed is called an Alsatian.

If the dog didn't have a collar - with the owner information or the tags to indicate recent vaccinations, the dog should be taken to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter. Or, give them a call to pick it up from your place. This is what that agency gets paid to do - deal with pets of this nature. Plus, they'll provide the appropriate vaccinations and bill the owner if the owner shows up to claim their dog.

Enjoying some leftover German Shepherd, with some mashed potatoes, and a slice of pumpkin pie a la poodle.

Take the dog into the vet. It probably has one of the implanted tags in the top of it's neck. They can scan the dog and all of it's information will come up. The dogs name, owner, address, shot history, medical history, and anything else of importance.

They will hold the dog for the owner to claim.

If that does not work, let us know. There are other avenues yet to try.
