Where can you buy goose or venison?

I want to serve up something a little different for the holidays. Where can you buy something like goose or venison or quail or pheasant?

Goose, Venison, Quail, and Pheasant: All are available at Wegman's.
Goose is $5.50/lb. The others (especially venison) are really expensive, IIRC. Do you know a hunter? That would be the best way of getting these tasty meats!

There's a butcher in Springfield, Commerce Street area by the Kmart and ghetto ass hard times, well all of Springfield is, but this butcher has all of these for much cheaper than anywhere else. Plus other meats, buffalo, rabbit, lamb, etc

Definetely Springfield Butcher. A lot of what you mention they have frozen, but venison is often available fresh and the prices are reasonable. I think that this is a family-owned business and one of the few true butcher shops in the area.

In my back yard! We have anywhere from 3 to 7 deer in our back yard every night making their way through the neighborhood looking for food. I imagine you could use a bow (we are on an acre) and give me half what you shoot.

I'll echo the comments about the Springfield Butcher. It's in the Springfield Plaza shopping center, the one with the Giant, Trader Joe's, and K-Mart. The butcher shop is essentially opposite Trader Joe's: If you were to stand in front of Trader Joe's, the butcher is on the far side from there as you look straight ahead. I picked up some fresh venison backstrap there last month and it was very good.

Another possible source for game meats is the Organic Butcher of McLean on Old Dominion Drive. Call ahead first, however; it's a smaller operation than the Springfield Butcher.
