Tysons Corner, VA - Fairfax County Police are searching for a woman who they say carjacked another woman at Tysons Corner II Mall.


McLean Police District - Police are investigating a report of a Good Samaritan who had her car stolen at knife-point around 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 19. A 59- year-old Fairfax woman was approached in the Tyson's Corner II parking lot of Neiman Marcus by a woman who claimed she was out of gas and needed a ride to a station.

The victim invited the woman into her vehicle but as she drove toward Route 123 the suspect produced a knife and told the driver to get out of the vehicle. The victim was left at the intersection of Old Courthouse Road and Route 123.

Her vehicle, a 2003 silver Acura, Virginia tag XEK8095 has not been recovered. There were no injuries and police are continuing to investigate.

The suspect is described as a white female with large blue eyes, between 20 and 25 years old. She had brown hair below her shoulders and was around 5 feet 5 inches tall. She wore a black hooded sweatshirt and light colored pants. She told the victim that she was a college student.

Yes, but since the Fairfax County police are involved in this investigation, they could have pulled up the vehicle model via the license plate number search in a few minutes. I don't think the owner of the vehicle, or the news media are to blame on this one. But, I do think FCPD is because they could have supplied the vehicle model to make the search a whole lot easier.

Also, it strikes me as odd that someone who has the capability to shop at Neiman Marcus doesn't have a device such as Lo-Jack installed.

What? A 2003 Acura is still a quite good vehicle. Also, keep in mind that most car jackings have nothing to do with the make or model of the vehicle. The thief basically needs transportation at that time, so seeks out the easiest opportunity they can locate.

WASHINGTON - Police are still on the hunt for a young Manassas woman who they say is responsible for a string of crimes.

Prince William County police officers say Stephanie Lynn Schwab, 26, has robbed two banks and carjacked a woman at Tysons Corner.

The most recent incident occurred Tuesday, when Schwab is suspected of robbing a BB&T Bank at 8432 Old Keene Mill Road in Fairfax County.

Police say Schwab entered the bank around 1 p.m., implied she had a weapon and demanded money from the teller. She left with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured in the incident.

"Detectives are still investigating that case. They've distributed Stephanie Schwab's photograph and information throughout the county, and they are diligently tracking any leads and following that case up, working cooperatively with Prince William County police who also have a warrant for Stephanie Schwab for bank robbery in that jurisdiction as well," says Don Gotthardt with Fairfax County Police.

Schwab is also accused of tricking a 59-year-old woman into picking her up in the parking lot at Tysons Corner Center Nov. 19 by claiming she had run out of gas.

Once in the car, police say Schwab pulled a knife and told the driver to get out.

Prince William County Police say Schwab robbed the Virginia Commerce Bank on Balls Ford Road Nov. 18.

Gotthardt hopes tips from the public will help investigators find Schwab, or that all the publicity the case is getting will force Schwab to give herself up.

"We encourage Stephanie herself to do the right thing and turn herself in. It just makes everything a lot easier. We're not going to stop looking for her until we find her," Gotthardt says.

Channel 5 reports Schwab is a former member of the MS-13 gang, who recently testified in a high-profile murder case.

Schwab is described as 5 feet, 3 inches tall, weighing 130 pounds with green eyes and blond hair. She also has two facial piercings.

She wore a plaid coat, dark pants and boots during Tuesday's robbery.

The car from the Nov. 19 carjacking has not yet been recovered. It is described as a 2003 silver Acura with Virginia tag XEK8095.

BALTIMORE, Md. - Baltimore County Police believe Stephanie Lynn Schwab is responsible for a stabbing on Baltimore National Pike on Thanksgiving. Schwab is also the suspect in a carjacking at Tysons II in Fairfax.

Around 2:15 p.m. a 26-year-old victim reported that she had given a ride to a woman from the parking lot of the Safeway grocery store at the corner of Baltimore National Pike and Ingleside Avenue to the parking lot of the Shoppers Food Warehouse in the 5400-block of Baltimore National Pike.

The victim reported that when she stopped her car, the suspect displayed a knife and told her to keep driving. When the victim asked a man walking by for help, the suspect attempted to climb into the driver's seat. The victim attempted to grab the knife from the suspect, and was cut on the hand. She was transported to St. Agnes Hospital for treatment for a non-life threatening injury. The suspect was last seen running eastbound on Route 40 towards Baltimore City.

Schwab is wanted for first degree assault and related charges after the incident.

On November 25, detectives located a silver 2003 Acura 3.2TL in the Safeway grocery store parking lot. The vehicle had been reported stolen in an armed carjacking in Fairfax County, Virginia. Detectives were able to connect Stephanie Lynn Schwab to the crime and have obtained a warrant charging her with first degree assault, attempted kidnapping, and second degree assault.

Stephanie Lynn Schwab is described as a white female, 5'3" tall, 165 pounds, with blond hair and green eyes.
