Can Greenfelder save West Springfield?

So the new principal was announced - Mark Greenfelder from Thoreau Middle School. West Springfield needs some serious repair. I hope he is the man who can do it.
I think he needs to:
-Be able to make decisions.
-Back up and support his teachers
-Stand up to parents and not let them run the school
-Not delegate the principal's job to all the teachers
-Instill a sense of appreciation among the faculty
-Be present in the hallways and actually show up in the building

Wow, a name from the past. Mark Greenfelder was a first year teacher when I was in 7th grade (1993). He is a stand up guy that cares about his students. This is great news for West Springfield!

His title was assistant principal at GBE, but it seemed to me his job description was "suck up to Principal Becky Pearson as much as possible". Couldn't stand either of them.

I think Greenfelder does a good job, so much better than Wardinski, I think the problem is the demographics of the west springfeild neighborhoods, it is getting bad, but the problem isnt Greenfelder

@replay - um, once an arrest warrant is issued, it's really not up to school admin to decide when and where an arrest will occur, just to let you know. Might as well blame the guy for gas prices.................

Mark Greenfelder will do amazing things for West Springfield. He is a Principal with his mind and heart in the right place. Hopefully people decide to give him a chance rather than bash what they do not know. Principal's have to sometimes makes decisions that are not popular with the parents/students in order to get things where they need to be. He has my full support. A Principal can only sustain what parents are doing at home. So if parents are doing their jobs at home....Greenfelder has a better chance at success.

they arrested the kids at school because the cops at the W Springfield base stattion are lazy, they knew where they were and it was business hours, they do that alot, no thought process involved

Heck yeah. They arrest kids at schools all the time. Nobody talks about it though because the kids are mostly not white and the charges are not related to sex. And it's not in West Springfield (gasp, what a scandal). Nobody cares about a black or brown kid who gets arrested for robbery or drugs and who gets picked up at school.
I wouldn't want to go to a kid's house to pick him up either (the parents might be half crazed and put up a fight).

Did you know West Springfield has over 2,000 students? It's very possible for the principal to not know, if the students kept everything well hidden. And, since they broke a law, police has a right to get involved. Do you think West Springfield has some kind of jail and their own legal system? I would blame the parents if any.

For what its worth.....
The FCPD has a memo of understanding with FCPS dealing with police arrest of students during the school day and on school grounds. That memo states that arrest of students will not be made on school grounds unless there is an immediate threat to safety or an emergency. Not sure the details of this arrest and why it was necessary to arrest students immediately for a crime occurring in the summer.
I would imagine the cops making that arrest will need to explain why they violated their own policy and if it was necessary to do so.......but regardless, the memo exist and is in force.
