I have called the Yellow Page Advertisers in the past and have not received good service for the money I have spent which has been excessive.

Just had a plumbing problem and called Dawson Plumbing after a recommendation, he is on Angies List. He was on time and very fair prices. He is a one man show, which I like. Call Warren Dawson at 703 354-9358. He prefers to be called after 8:30 pm, but he will take your call anytime. For air conditioning, I recommend W.B. Smith Heating and Air, at 571-238-8216. I have used Brent Smith in Chantilly for 15 years, he is very reliable and more than fair prices. For cars, I recommend Chantilly Steering Tire and Auto Center in Chantilly, 703 968-3502. I have used Jimmy for 2 years after being ripped off by so many others. He again is a small shop that does care about his customers and fair prices compared to others. Would like feedback from other's that have used these businesses.

Rule of thumb: The bigger the Yellow Pages ad, the worse they'll fuck you. Angie's list is better, but if you use the Yellow Pages, call the guys with the little 2 or 3 line listings.

And of course the "wave at the man on the back of the truck" type of bullshit is a dead giveaway. If they've got money for that or full page Yellow Pages ads, they're screwing people.

I used Plumbing Doctor once. The guy was competent, but was not low priced by any means. I paid $450 for labor and $530 total with parts for a few hours work.

Sometimes it seems to me that doing everything yourself is much easier than finding a good plumber.

If I had the courage to do it myself, I would really do it because finding a good plumber is very difficult.
