I like the update a lot. Get a lot more info on stuff and now when you dvr something it is a lot like a dvd where you can select the different chapters of the program if you have already seen some of it. Well done Fios

I have a Fios cable box in my bedroom. There must have been some kind of software update that forced it to reboot, because the stupid click-click-clicking woke me up last night.

I'M A FIVE-STAR MAN!!

I have tried the new channel guide in all formated listed in the fios menu and find them ALL difficult to read and requiring extra steps that I did not encounter with the previous display. So far, it sucks... and verizon help or forums doesn't even begin to cover how too make posible changes as they are ALWAYS perfect and never need correcting (according to them).

the only thing that kinda sucks is you have to have a fios remote to select your favorite channels. if you have like a logitech one for all your things you cants get the favorites to show as far as i know without an options button on your remote

I used to rent a DVR from Verizon until I decided I wanted a TV in my bedroom in addition to my family room. I couldn't stomach paying $30 for the multiroom DVR rental so I bought a cablecard tuner and set up Windows Media Center on an old PC I had laying around. I use an XBOX360 in the bedroom to tune channels and watch recorded programming. Now I have four tuners and multiroom DVR capability for the $4/mo cable card rental.

Verizon's remotes suck. Even if you point it right at the box, it doesn't work. I had to get a Logitech, which works perfectly.

Verizon says you can also hook an external e-sata drive up to the DVR to extend it's recording time. Could you always do that or was that part of the update (they enabled it)?

I use my logictech as well, there has to be a way to get my favorite channels and im sure eventually ill figure it out.

I know the dvr boxes are set up so they can do that and accept flash drives, but i believe that verizon has disabled those features on them. I couldnt tell you if you can do that or not, but i do know they have come out with an upgraded dvr box that is 500 gigs thats available in some areas.

I have an old Harmony 610, and I do have a button assigned to bring up favorites. It's [PVR] [Favorite]

I think I am stuck with one of the old POS DVRs that can't use the eSATA capabilities.

I read on some sites that they charge you $40 to upgrade your box, but if you go to a "Experience" store, you can swap it out for free. Anyone do that? I think the store is in Fair Oaks. I might go down there and try to get one of the 500GB boxes. I can barely record any HD content on the box I have now.
