An 11-month-old Reston boy died after being taken from a Vienna home that has since been deemed uninhabitable by county officials.

On Oct. 5, a caregiver living in the home in the 1100 block of Lakewood Drive took the boy from the Vienna residence to his mother’s home on Freetown Court in Reston, according to Fairfax County police.

Police said that after attempts to revive the unresponsive boy by both the caretaker and his mother, the boy was taken to Reston Medical Center and later transported by helicopter to Children’s National Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead the next day.

The boy’s cause of death has not yet been determined, according to the Vienna police, which is currently investigating the death and has ruled it suspicious.

Following the boy’s death, the Lakewood Drive home has been deemed uninhabitable by the Fairfax Department of Code Compliance. A sign on the Vienna home reads: “This area is unsafe and its use or occupancy has been prohibited by the fire official.”

“Access and egress within the home was impacted and the home was found to be in violation of fire code,” said Fairfax County spokeswoman Merni Fitzgerald.

“No charges have been filed as we are still investigating the case and analyzing evidence,” Vienna police spokesman Bill Murray said this week.

sad to hear that this child died, and whatever the circumstances, that is. Wonder if this is a hoarding case or something along those lines
