Mr Cooper,here is what i want to see from you
1.i want to see the parks program twice as big as it is now. you claim to want to save tax payers money.There is no reason to have to pay vdot to cut grass, clean street,or shovel snow. when we have a jail full of people who need to repay the debt. I think your word are' they dont need to sit around eating bon bons'.
2. i want to see more inmates come out of jail with a G.E.D. There is no reason that most of them should at least be able to get this. you need to give them a chance.
3.i ask you this cooper, what point does it serve to lock a guy up for not paying support? use your head on this one please. Here let me help you with this one. if you lock the guy up he cant work,that means no money!!!! if this is the route you want to go then make it mandatory that he has to go to work realse program. You also need to look at these mothers who get money from the county because there are a lot who are pulling a blanket over your eyes.example; there is a mother who got money for rent from fairfax county,the place of rent was 2 bedrooms 1 for mother one for child, however the mother rented out a room and paid 0 for rent because she had someone cover her half. now i say don't go just after the dead beat bad but the worthless mother also.
4. please don't enforce gang law, enforce a task force to take down the gangs and make it that its all they do!!!!!!!!! that's when ill fell safe

My answer is, "No".

The sheriff doesn't control who gets thrown into jail. If you don't want deadbeat dads ending up in jail you need to deal with the judges or the legislature. I'm fairly certain that with the division of authority in Fairfax any gang policies would be administered by the police rather than the sheriff's office. Obtaining a GED is a noble goal, but remember that most 'tenants' at jail are short timers. Sending out prisoners to do work in the community sounds good in theory, but it also involves costs, including transportation and supervision. You may not save as much money as you think, and how do you think the community would react if one of these chain gangers slipped away and hurt someone.

the police? We have a problem with gangs, It seems to me that the county police dont have the time to mess with it. If you read my post it said "what i would like to see from cooper". Your right they don't have control who gets put in jail, but they do have control of how they spend the time they have.As far as inmates running is very slim. I dont think you know anything about how inmates already are in the public every day, prisons or county. We already have a program where they clean streets and cut grass. if we expand this more you will 1give deputy's more hours which is what they want anyway. 2. what do you think it cost vdot? i think you really need to look into that. as far as a G.E.D it takes 3 months. i think most of thoose guys can get it in that time.

All that you ask for is easy to deliver on. If you visit Cooper's website you will see that he calls it the "deadbeat parent" program not the "deadbeat dad" program. Cooper is well aware that there are female abusers of the system too. He is also aware, from years of experience that it is amazing how fast the support money appears, once someone is locked up.

As far as who decides who should be locked up, once a warrant is issued, the Sheriff can step in. That's where Cooper's task force would take over.

Please tell everyone you know that the current sheriff could have been doing these things all along and chose not to. All of a sudden it's an election year and you're seeing the sheriff for the firt time. Where has he been the past 11 years?

He pulled deputies out of the Warrant Squad, fugitive squad, Gang Unit, Drug Unit, US Marshals Task Force, etc...Only when he saw Cooper's platform, did he scramble to try and become involved again.

The Sheriff checked out years ago. It's time for new blood and a fresh perspective. Please vote for Bill Cooper on Nov. 8th!

Can someone tell me how retired Sheriff's Employee Bill Cooper gained access to my private home address? I work in the Sheriffs Department, in the jail. I only provide my home address when legally required to do so. I have received campaign mail from Coopers campaign addressed to me as a Sheriffs Office employee. I did not give anyone permission to give my private address to Bill Cooper. He and someone in the Sheriffs Office has violated county policy and my legal right to privacy. Maybe I should check my credit report in case he has my social security number also. Cooper needs to stop claiming he is earning anyones trust and confidence. I am pissed and I know a lot of other deputies are upset about this as well. Well???

A GED means absolutely nothing. Any job you can get with a GED you can get without one.

I dont get it? Dont enforce anti gang laws but let the task force handle it?

You know impersonating law enforcement is a crime even when you work for the sheriffs campaign which you so obviously do

Thats exactly what he was saying it will cost more. Its definitely cheaper for Vdot to pay 2 or 3 people than for the sheriff to pay a few deputies over time and transport them back and forth. Also the work program should be an incentive. Getting to get out of the jail like that is a reward not everyone should be getting it

And he also made a good point about them running. You must not understand this area. Most of us know the chance of them getting anywhere is very slim and I am not worried about it at all. But the second it happened a bunch of people are going to act like the 4 four horsemen themselves are here and in the end someone is going to get fired.

Have them do work projects in the jail where they can then sell the goods or provide goods for the state instead.

Cooper couldn't do any worse than Barry. All you do in jail is sit around watching TV and wait to be told your GED program has been cancelled. They don;t even check to see if you have a H.S diploma. Everyone signs up just to get out of the cell block. They pat themselves on the back when 6 people graduate with a GED. What a big joke. 3 of them have a GED all ready. The other 3 don't speak english. They bring in the press and take pictures and act like they make a big difference in the community.
