Roy Buchanan who was picked up for drunk in public, was found hanged there in his jail cell back in August 1988. Anybody know the details in what happen?

Roy got mouthy with one of the deputies, who beat him up, not knowing who Roy was. Roy told the deputy he was going to have his badge taken away and sue the department, which was a credible threat, considering Roy did know a few very good lawyers. The deputy got scared and when Roy fell asleep, he and another deputy went in and strangled him to death, then hung him with his shirt from the bars.

Don't forget that it all has to be white. If it's not white, it's getting tossed. Jails are racist.

ADVICE - Re: FairFax County Jail
Posted by: helper1 ()

I just wanted to offer some advice to this post. I had a friend who was supposed to serve time this year for a child support case. He had hired Justin Daniel Esq. who is an attorney who works at Whitestone, Brent, Young, & Merril's firm in Fairfax. He ended up getting his jail time decreased, then the case was continued, and then somehow he ended up only serving a week out of a 10 week sentence.

Any ways... I always pass along his attorney's name because he was able to really pull some strings for my friend.

Hello everyone,

I'm going into Fairfax County Jail on Jan 6th, 2011 for 14 days for a DUI 1st offense, and then am serving 46/7 more days because I swapped a book I already bought at Barnes & Noble. Anyhow, I haven't been able to sleep because I am scared and frightened at the prospect.

Am I allowed to bring anything of my own? Hair ties, Hair bands, glasses, contacts (and contact solution)?

Do they give you a necessary piss test when you go in? I just indulged in some marijuana yesterday (stupid move) but I was freaking out over jail.

What kind of items are available in the commissary? Do they have dictionaries?

When are lights on/off and are there any windows in the cells?

Is it a group shower? I have really itchy skin, and am wondering if they provide lotion, hair comb or something.

Is it better to have a job while you are there? Like working for the kitchen staff or something.

Will I be able to send/receive letters while I am in jail? Are visiting hours through those plastic windows or do we actually get to touch them at all? What are the phone regulations/limitations like?

Sorry for the all questions but ever since my sentence I have received probably 4 hours of sleep in 4 days.

How can I get on House Arrest?

Thank you,
screwed

Wow fresh meat if I ever heard it. How old are you? If you don't chill out you're going to be a wreck in there and appear even weaker to everyone else. Don't worry too much it's not attica.

what does that mean... fresh meat? i'm not from the country so sometimes my slang falls a bit.

i need to chill out, i know. i haven't been able to sleep properly and things like that at all. i'm strong, i will be, but i do hope i'm going to freak out in there and have them take me out or something.

i'm going to take a bath with some nice scotch the day before i go. i'll miss that.

thanks for your feedback.

I spent five days. Most inmantes were black or brown. Not a single blonde (male)

They bore, mistreat and feed you badly.

You leave at 12 in the morning. Then the deputy says I can't find your money. They love to abuse.

He finally found my money after ten minutes and five days.

Time seems longer on the way out.

Talk, but don't try to make friends if you are short term. Long term people resenct short terms.

Like a lot of other people, been to FFX's Finest myself. Everything that was said from the courtroom to the general population is dead on. One thing I also found to be true was that us females were and I am sure still treated A hell of worser then the men. The new side was not opened for the women till October 2004, yet the men were housed over there far back as 2003. Bonds!!!! Please men get them more often then women. Though I will say that not all the Deputy's were assholes but trust and believe the bad outweighed the good. One I hated who hated women just as much was DEPUTY HAMMER. You look up the work complete evil bastard his name would be there. Don't get me wrong I made a mistake, I did my time, never been back. Some people don't learn though, they go back and forth so much, they become imstuitionlized. I saw a couple of people who got out could not handle being out and did something on purpose to come back, really sad and stupid. I still think it is funny you are charged "RENT". Was a dollar a day but knowing good ol FFX County I am sure they raised the rates..LOL

Fact...ROY WAS MURDERED!!!

The deputies should be held accountable for what they did.

You deputies know who you are. You deputies should be dealt with accordingly.

YOU ARE NOT ABOVE THE LAW!!

People wouldn't take this from individuals on the street why should we put up with this treatment from you?

Prisoner's are innocent until proven guilty.

Roy was in a holding cell until he sobered up and was suppose to be released not killed.

He released the twelfth and last album of his career, Hot Wires, in 1987. According to his agent and others, Buchanan was doing well, having gained control of his drinking habit and playing again, when he was arrested for public intoxication after a domestic dispute,[2][5] and was found hanged from his own shirt in a jail cell on 14 August 1988 in the Fairfax County, Virginia Jail. According to Jerry Hentman, who was in a cell nearby Buchanan's, the Deputy Sheriff opened the door early in the morning and found Buchanan with the shirt around his neck.[6][10]

His cause of death was officially recorded as suicide, a finding disputed by Buchanan's friends and family. One of his friends, Marc Fisher, reported seeing Roy's body with bruises on the head.[6]

I spent the night in a holding cell when I was arrested for noise ordinance from my apt for playing rock band too loudly (drunk) and being a dick to the cop. These guys are right those holding cells are tiny (maybe 6' x 4') and it was pretty much impossible to sleep even though i was pretty hammered. A nice deputy did bring me a mat to sleep on though.

AS for "bruises on his head" go study a little bit and you can see bruising can happen in many places of the body post mortum.....and due to the hanging and a yadda yadda yadda

LOVE the try though.....sounds like douche got locked up, thought he was a rock god and in the end felt sorry for himself and strung himself up......the end

There is a good chance that my son will have to do some jail time after pleading to a misdemeanor. (He stole some stuff when he was going through a really bad phase. He's a totally new person now, and the attorney thinks he can get the charge reduced from grand larceny to misdemeanor of damaging property, but he will probably have to do some time. He is 19, so a legal adult.) Attorney says worst case 6 months, but probably less. I'm hoping for a few weekends, but I guess we have to be prepared for worse. My question is what can our family do to support him. Will he be allowed to make phone calls? Is he allowed visitors? I've seen some references to ''commisary'', which I infer means that we can give him money to buy stuff, but how does this work? I would appreciate any advice.

One further question for the group. My son is currently taking a summer course in NOVA and lpans to continue with classes in the fall. Has anyone had experience with this situtation? Understood your thoughts on convicted criminals. But please note, many of the people that have been arrested and are being held at the courthouse have not been found guilty of a crime. They are awaiting trial. At this point, they are citizens just like the rest of us. They pay taxes to run this establishment and should be treated accordingly.

I certainly hope you never end up in such a situation.

Oh god.. the dreaded loaf...

I will never speak of the loaf ever again.. It comes in a greased soaked paper bag..
They'll tell you it's mixed vegetables and a "nutritional substance" - I chucked it against the door (not throwing it - just was disgusted with it's smell) and the bag busted from the grease soaking through the bottom..

It literally looked like shit - had fun with it by spelling my name in it.. kept me entertained for about 10 minutes.. I even played tic-tac-tow with the loaf. The deputies were not too happy.

I know hot lesbo action does indeed happen - when I first arrived @ FFX ADC, I was placed in a seating area (not holding) - where people who are there are being transported to and from the jails or court - and some hot ass black girl said she was sick of them bitches eating pussy all the time.. I was like wtf .. ?? There was another black girl from Baltimore who I thought was really fucking hot - couldnt be more than 22 years old and weighed about 100 lbs - her eyes got big as shit when she heard the other girl's vent about carpet munching..

Another note - I couldn't believe there were people on the block in fucking wheelchairs and shit.. I asked the one guy if he was pulled over for speeding in his chair.. it gathered laughs from the other inmates.. I found out he actually cheeked his meds and made himself a nice cocktail for sunday afternoons..

People on crutches and in casts in gen pop; Really Fairfax? Most people on my block were there because they couldn't afford their bail and were petty crimes (returning rental car late - etc) Crimes are Crimes I suppose..

Forgot to add -

What pisses me off the most about fairfax ADC, is that you are not allowed to have a damn plastic spoon.. I like to eat noodles to supplement my bologne sandwich for lunch.

I have to make it in my empty chip bag and either eat that shit like a horse from a bag or put it on my sandwich. I rather put the noodles in my cup and allow it to cook from the hot water via the faucet - but I cant for the fucking life of me eat it from the cup without it spilling all over my jumpsuit - then I have to wear the jumpsuit for two days until it's swapped.. FML...

Oh yes.. Im a hardened' criminal for someone using my name.. Although I was served with a warrant in my home state.. i was held without bail for a month and a half just because i was picked up in another state.. It all good now.. i was able to prove id theft..

Let's just hope you are never turned into a dipshit and are ever put in the "clank" - I can guarentee you will be arrested in the near future for either a Drunk in Public or a Domestic Assault..

My son ended up getting probation, so did not have to go to jail as I expected when I made my previous posts. However, the idiot violated his probation,so is very likely to have to do some time starting tomorrow. My question is this: If we put money on a commisary card, is he likely to be able to use it to buy drugs in jail? I appreciate any information.

One other question: After our son gets hadcuffed and taken to jail after the hearing on Thursday, can we leave some extra underwear for him at the desk, so he can pick them when he is in jail? We are going out of town Friday for 2 weeks, so if we are going to give him anything we have to do it Thursday right after the hearing. We will tell him to wear extra underwear to the hearing, but there is a limit on how many extras he can wear, so I thought it would be good for him to have some more if possible.

Fairfax County makes Nazi Germany sweem reasonable and fair. Yeah I get it, it is jail but the US Constitution makes CRUEL AND UNUSUAL punishment illegal. Get out of the Fourth Reich as soon as you get the chance....I did and have not regretted it for one second!! They want $5000 per month as a property tax but when you get stuck in jail, you get baloney and no milk....yeah, that sounds reasonable. Trust me, just leave....

As a tax payer in this fine county, let me be the first to say thank you for leaving. If you have been a resident of our fine jail, then you were there I am sure for a good reason. But I am sure it was not your fault, the corrupt county set you up.

most of the visitors are held for many hours, which is illegal, to see a magistrate that bonds them out on a complaint which carries not prison sentence, with bond set illegally high, which assumes they could be held for fear of fleeing on a charge that doesn't carry a fucking prison term to begin with

follow the money. the bond companies are making out like bandits.

he then went on to threaten me saying he'd imprison me on the spot and lie in court saying he'd asked me many times

fuck you fuck him.

does anyone post here anymore? My lawyer is telling me that I might go to jail for false summoning of a police officer (calling 911 twice in a row) is this real? Part of me just believes he is using this as a ploy to extract more money out of me for representation but after reading these threads I see that this is a possibility.

Anyone know a good place to do community service? I want to get some hours in before i go to this hearing. And secondly how much of a possibility is this really? I have arrests on my record but no convictions of any sort. Plus i stupidly gave up some money to this lawyer right away, but I want to know if there is someone better that can represent me. If I have to go to jail i'll willingly go, I just kinda wish it is right now instead of being so damn anxious. Its better to get a continuance i guess bc I can keep my job for a little longer. There is no way I will go back to my employment if they know where I have been. That shame to people I don't consider family is not something that I will be able to stand on a day to day basis. Its like my career is over, I'll build it back but its hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

It apparently took you 3 times and jailtime to figure this out? Obviously not the sharpest crayon in the box, are you.

I already knew this and I didn't have to learn the hard way. It's called - making the right choice and not acting like a flaming douchenozzle.

You ought to try Dade county Georgia or Calhoun Alabama jails. 2 sandwiches a day. No windows, not even a window through the cell door. You might get clobbered by a deputy for complaining. In the bible belt they go old testament on you. Your a sinner and need to pay. Fairfax is 5 star compared to those places. Quit bitching And be grateful that your experience wasn't worse

Fairfax is a cakewalk. Yeah it sucks, but try Dade county ga or Calhoun al . no TV, 2 meals a day. In Alabama, state law says the sherrif can keep for himself, personally, the money left over from feeding inmates. Deputy's fuck with you, maybe clobber you for complaining. They go old testament in the bible belt.

Try to go through that with your lawyer...as in get an agreement by sentencing. With your charges as long as you can pay (it costs to be in Any of them besides CLF) thats what they want. More of your money.

I spent 10 days there for possession of a substance. I was in the women's side where you are pretty much left alone. I think it was the A unit. At any rate, while shake downs were a pain in the ass, and life was boring, it wasn't as horrible as I expected it would be. We were locked in 3 times a day for about an hour. And while you had access to your cell all day, you could not get under the covers. Food was horrible, but then again it is a jail. The worst part was the 4:30am breakfast. The ladies pretty much place cards all day, which I never got into. I kept to myself, but for the most part everybody was very nice and respectful. The deputies do their best to treat the woman on the A unit pretty good. The women do all the cleaning and self managing of the unit, so it was called the "good girl" unit ... Because most all the women their were petty criminals, DUI or marijuana charges. I would NEVER want to go back, and wear those horrible green jumpsuits, but for 10 days I was disconnected from my cell phone and computer, and it was pretty peaceful when I kept to my closet and just read. I was happy when I was released and look at it as a painful life lesson. But a lesson nonetheless.
