First of all props to the young man-great catch bud. That's the bass that so many of us dream about, yet never get to hook. I've had no luck in Lake Thoreau, other than small panfish, so an even bigger props. That's a good fish to catch, and hope you had fun reeling him in. That must've been one kick ass fight.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but I think that is a spotted Bass, not large mouth.

If that is a spotted Bass than seven pounds is a Virginia state record! If nothing lese that fish has be Virginia citation size.

Notice the lack of elongated dorsal fin on topside of fish. Its Largemouth and a damn fine one at that.

I find it amazing this kid caught such a big fish using a yellow geezer cellphone as a lure.

Have him fill out the form any way. He's under 12 and it doesn't cost anything. They'll send a nice "award" certificate.

Nice catch son. More kids should get into outdoor activities, especially hunting and fishing. Don't make fun of the boy. He is happy, he caught a nice fish he will never forget, and doesn't need people putting him down.

Whoever you are Kilton, you are a true asshole.

Look at how happy that kid is! I love it. All those on here who are looking at his body don't see the inner beauty and joy of this kid. There are plenty of skinny kids who are doing things they shouldn't be doing. This here is a great kid out having a good time. Love you kid. Keep smiling!
