Yes I have been to Chili's, food is typical chain restaurant stuff. Ironically thier Chili sucks, but the rest of the food is about what you'd expect from that sort of place. Their nachos are not a big plate of nachoes with cheese and chili poured over the top. They have a nicely arranged on a plate with cheese carefully covering each one... it's like they prepare one nacho at a time and put them on a plate. I prefer the sloppy heap of Nachos myself.

If you got the hankerin' for some mediocre food served in an atmosphere that rivals TGI Friday's, well gosh darn it, this place just might be for you!

FWIW I almost never eat there, but there used to be a mushroom-Swiss burger on the menu that was actually pretty good.

Anyone notice that Ruby Tuesday's is trying to go a bit upper scale? They've redone the exteriors and interiors of their restaurants. Too band their food still tries to redo the interior of my GI tract.

I remember Chili's for having a pretty decent happy hour back in the day. I don't know if they still do it, but used to be $2 drafts and free wings / chips and salsa from 3-7pm. Good fajitas too.

Ruby Tuesday's has definitely elevated their food offerings and aesthetics. They have this jumbo lump crab cake sandwich and their triple prime burger that's been in my carryout rotation for over 6 mo. now. Totally addicting. Only thing that annoys me is when you dine-in, they give ketchup to you in one ounce rations, which is enough for 8-9 fries. WTF? -§

Most bang for the Nacho buck that I have found, unfortunately, is at Bungalows. Huge plate, lots of jalapeño and damn good. I just can't stand the damn restaurant though. Way too loud and their service has sucked lately.

If you want a really good and really BIG burger, try Cheeburger Cheeburger (no S) behind the Weigman's near the Car Max on 28! They have a full POUND burger that they will cook the way you want it, and about 50 "fixin's" to choose from. They also have the best onion rings and french fries I've had in a long time, not to mention the sodas and shakes you can select! Unbelievable!

Thought I'd include a link for their menu

The burger selection at Ruby Tuesday's has really improved and I think that they are one of the few places around with a salad bar. Selection and quality really varies by location, however. The one in Fairfax is pretty lame, but I have eaten at one near the Atlanta airport and in Knoxville recently which were very good.

Come to think of it, places like Chili's, Ruby Tuesdays TGI Fridays seem to be a lot better when you leave the metro DC area.

In the Chili’s, RT, TGIF, and the like Ruby Tuesday's has the best salad bar. They include plenty of dark green lettuce with is far better for you than the cheap and nutritionally lacking iceberg lettuce other's use.

There is this all you can eat salad and pizza place over in Bally’s Crossroads that I took the kids to once. $6.00 all you can eat small slices of pizza and a mini salad bar. I will tell you, we were the only non fat people in the joint (sorta like an Olive Garden for poor people). They had a salad bar that I was the only one in the joint using!

Anyway, be careful eating out too much, the food is crappy for you, and it becomes expensive in the long run. Try this, take your Sig Other to Olive Garden one evening and count the number of FAT people in the room, and them determine what percentage of the room is fat verses non fat. You will be amazed at the results.

Speaking of restaurants, Restaurant Week in DC is next week; $30.08 for a three course meal in a nice restaurant. Google for list. Last year my wife and I went to a place downtown for restaurant week and my wife, a former model, noticed every fat person that walked in had a big smile on their face. We easily deduced that they were being fed and they didn't have to work for it (like cooking). That made them happy.

Don't eat out at these Chili's like places, and eat out a maximum of once a month if you are married, or over 35. The portions are too big and the food is not good for your health and appearance. Do you really want to become one of these fat people that grabs a Big Mac on the way home before dinner?

No worries there. I usually eat only one meal a day plus a light snack like yogurt or smokehouse almonds. I have such a high-stress job that my metabolism is always on overdrive. I've actually been the same weight since high school with +/- 5 lb. variance. -§

That would be Cici's Pizza and it is excellent for people on a budget. 4.99 all you can eat pizza pasta salad dessert, plus 1.75 for a drink.

IT is also excellent for fat people. I went to one in Roanoke Rapids, NC, which is barely over the southern border from VA, but i could tell i was in the redneck south. Several families of fat (and i mean FAT) white people eating there. I saw a mullet too!

The problem with dating larger women is you have to keep feeding them all the time. With the larger stomach, food becomes volume and appointment issues, not a quality issue. Plus they have bad attitudes when they don't get food when it is desired.

Also, fat people become lazy because they are carrying so much more weight than most people. Their knees aren't as agile making them clumsier, and they are prone to diabetes and other health issues.

Most fat people eat at restaurants at a higher frequency than their weight conscious counterparts. Restaurants sell fatty foods, it is what they do for a living, and so there is a vicious cycle fat people have difficulty getting out of.

We have a fat neighbor and she drives her kid to the bus stop (three blocks away) because she is so lazy. She doesn't cook and they eat out a lot or bring convenience food home (KFC is her favorite to bring home). One time she had a dinner party and was to heat up some prepared food from Costco. Her oven caught on fire because she never cleaned it because it didn't get any use after they moved in two years ago. Whenever their is a neighborhood activity involving the kids, swim team etc, she always volunteers to organize a meal around it involving fried chicken or pizza. Do we need to involve food with every physical activity for our kids?

Now it is time for lunch.

Actually Cindy you should listen to Fundamental.

Five years ago I lost 97 pounds and have never felt better. I once ate in restaurants daily, now only a couple of times per week. I also eliminated soda 100% The diet brands are just as bad as the regular.Artificial sweeteners have been linked to obesity. If you really think that an fat people lobbying group will fix personal self esteem issues you are wrong. Please see a counselor and get help. Life can be so much more.

In all fairness to Chili's, they don't claim to be Mexican food. They claim to be "Tex-Mex"; which is analogous to saying they are tex-shit to filet mignon.

My family thinks the best burgers are at Red Robin! Not the one off of Fair Lakes Parkway, but the one in Chantilly near Costco. We pass lots of other restaurants to get there (including Ruby Tuesday and Five Guys) and yet we continue to go back. Best burger - family friendly. Fries aren't as good as the burgers though. I'm interested in the Cheeburger restaurant! Will have to check that out! Now...to find those running shoes...

There's a Red Robin by Costco in Chantilly? I never knew.

Red Robin's pretty decent. I like the fries. I've had some shitty service at the one in Fair Lakes, though.

Fair City Mall has was I believe to be an Old Country Buffet. When we go to the movies next door, we see fat and happy leaving there. Once from the outside of the mall I peaked in a window into OCB to actually see what the hell was going on their. I could not see anything. They had the blinds closed so I could see almost nothing and inside they had partitions and very high back booths to prevent one from seeing what their fellow OCBer was gorging on.

Oh well.

Yep, it's there next to the Famous Dave's BBQ in the same plaza as Costco/Target. It's bigger/newer/cleaner/nicer than the one in Fair Lakes and I agree with you that the service in Fair Lakes is not particularly good. We don't like that one as much, so we go to Chantilly.

Thanks Radiophile for the Carlin link, I loved it! He makes great points. You are right, Olive Garden, OCB, and Cici's are for fat people-lotsa of bread and all you can eat. Red Robin, TGI-Fridays, and Chili's are a little more upscale, but still cater to those that want lotsa fat in their meals and a full belly. Heavy souses, breaded appetizers, fries, and deserts piled with whipped crème, are the staples of the industry. You know, a lot of these restaurants have desert menus larger than regular menus.- you deserve desert because you dragged your lazy fat ass to a restaurant where the only work you did for food was make a menu decision? How f'ed up is that?

Look at the restaurant commercials everyone is having a "happy orgasm" around the food service; they play to fat people's emotions of being shoveled food in a happy atmosphere. Fun fact: Did you know McDonalds and other restaurants actually laces their French fries with sugar?

Listen, gals, if you are under 30 and you have a big buttock, you better work hard and diet to get rid of it. If you go into 30 with a big buttock you will most likely have a big buttock all your life.

I'll have to try it.

A few years ago I was at the one in Fair Oaks with my family. I ordered the food. It had been about an hour and nothing. Everyone around us was getting their food. I tracked down the manager and asked what the deal was (I'm very pragmatic in person, so it wasn't like I was being dicky to the guy). He checked into it and said, "Sorry. The waitress said you just ordered five minutes ago." I said, "Oh yeah? So you are saying I'm lying?"

He backed off real quick. We had our food in minutes and he comped us. Personally I wasn't looking for a free meal, just our food. But after the shitty attitude, which I a have never experienced from a manager before, I was only too happy to get the free food.

Anyway, I've been there since and it has improved over the years. I assume that manager got canned somewhere along the way.

i havent read the others reviews here but chilis does have great burgers. there are few faults to be found in my opinion. i had a milkshake there too which was above average but i dont drink many milkshakes so

i used to live in crystal city and there was a chilis in my apartment building so i'd go there a lot

the chicken tenders are god awful tho so be warned on that. i know chicken tenders are chicken tenders but these are not. also, the ribs are fatty. taste good the first few bites until you realize you're eating straight fat with barbeque sauce on top

2.2/5

3.8/5 on the chain restaurant scale

Good grief, FUNdamental, you and your "former model" wife really have a hate on for fat people. It makes you come off as creepy. And I say that with love.

That being said, during a recent family trip to Disney World, we were surprised by the number of large folks tooling around in motorized wheelchairs. It was a running debate among us whether they were in the chairs because they had become too fat to walk, or they became fat because they had been forced to use the chairs for some other reason.

You are soooo right about that. Have I dated you? The problem is that I am ALWAYS hungry and even three bowls of Olive Garden salad is not enough. I've tried everything from drinking lots of water, recording my food intake, keeping the bad food out of the house, excercising daily, and more diets than you can imagine. Just so you know, if more than fifteen minutes passes between ordering and receiving your food at a Silver Diner, ask to speak to a manager. SD has a 15 minute guarantee that they do not advertise -- the manager will be obliged to comp your next meal at a SD, and give you a card for it. Pretty good deal if the service happens to suck one day.

NO, SD is NOT a good place to meet fatties, cuz its hard for them to wedge their fat asses into those booths. Fatties prefer the tables at OCB, over near the dessert bar. After 5-6 heaping plates of "entree", who has the energy to travel far for 4-5 slices of cake/brownies/etc with ice cream. Its a hard long slag back to the front door after 2 hours of overeating though; OCB should get some of those motorized chairs for its best customers.

Happy fattie-finding!
