Tippys in Fairfax used to be delicious. Now they have a new owner and they've ruined it; its horrible. Beware.
The cook with the Virginia Tech hat is still awesome but I havent seen him there in a long time.

Well, that really stinks. Tippys was always known to provide a great tasting taco or burrito that wasn't shy of meat or lacking in any way. Plus, they only offered one type of hot sauce, not 14 different one like Taco Hell.

they use to be korean. hell i try and go to the springfield location but after eating 4 tacos with hot sauce and a few beers, i can only make it a half hour before i have to take a dump...well worth it. best tacos and hot sauce around.

If middle eastern is running the show at fairfax, the place is fucked.

I ordered the fajitas a few weeks ago and they brought me the saddest looking pile of cut up meat. No spices, no nothing. My wife and I just laughed. That place will be closed ix six months.

the new owners are THE WORST. we waited over a half hour for our food and they gave us someone else's after having given ours to the table next to us (which i noticed). there are always creepy friends of management in there gawking at me. i could deal with their occasional homeless person passed out in there no problem in comparison. it was a sad day when i decided we could no longer return to my 'Cheers' of tacos. i miss the old owners everyday. my life has been lacking delicious little tacos and inspirational queso dip. goddamnit.

I don't understand where all this negativity about Tippys is coming from? Last time I was there, I ordered a senor dinner with the enchiladas and a taco, added some chips with Queso dip on the side. The enchiladas were still smothered with hot cheese and the taco still had that good flavor and the Queso dip was still still rich. I went back and had a burrito and and a burrito sanchez and they tasted good as well.

with their 2 for 1 coupons, and low prices, they are a good value, but has it really gone downhill that much? Considering it was anything that great to begin with, no offense, but let's be honest.

The best place is or was , the springfield location, small little hole in the wall, sadly i think it was sold to new owners, last time i went the taco's were still good. but i kinda miss talking to the guy with one leg, having 4 taco's an a few beers.

do ju speak of the Tippy's at Jermantown Square chopping center? Geez you'd think with all the damn super chickn joints opening in every strip mall one of them would buy a Tippy's

Middle Eastern took over the Deli joint across street in the Kmart shopping center. Never has been the same as original. frankly, by the looks of things business has never been very good since the original owners sold out. don't know how it stays in business. Probably a front for something else. Seems to be a lot of non chain new arrival owned retail/restaurant businesses like that these days

*** Sad. So, the middle-eastern people own the Halal market in the KMart strip as well as the Deli that's there? Sheesh. Or, should I say Sheesh Kabob?

Is El Frescho better than Picante Mexican Restaurant which is down a bit further on Rt. 50 in the same strip where the 7-11 and Merchants Tire location is?

If you ever get carry out check your bag, they always "forget" to include your cheese or sauce. One time they left out a taco.

The Centreville location is still really good. I don't know what the new owners of the Fairfax one were thinking. Not only is the food a lot worse and the service is bad, but they actually spent money (I'm sure it wasn't much) to half way renovate the inside. Which to them meant throwing away most everything that made it a little unique.

What about the Tippy's in Merrifield?

Still very good, but parking is an issue here. Apparently Tippy didn't want to pay $50 a month to use spots at the next door shopping center, and I can't blame him either...$50 a spot per month seems a bit excessive. Still good eating spot, cheap and busy at lunch time.
