Fairfax Co. and FEMA flood maps

Fairfax County flood fact sheet:

http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dpwes/publications/stormwater/fema_flood_map_fact_sheet.pdf

FEMA floodplain map generator:

http://msc.fema.gov/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/FemaWelcomeView?storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&langId=-1

Now my requisite rant: if many of the same streets flood every time there is a heavy rain (e.g., Walney Rd. crossing through Flat Lick Stream valley; Richmond Highway crossing Accotink Creek), then why doesn't VDOT elevate the roadways through these areas?

Becuase VDOT's money is better spent building 4 lane bypasses around cities such as Lynchburg, Martinsburg, and South Boston.

Clearly you know nothing of construction, environmental impact, approval, design, etc etc

I am worried about my son's school, Westbriar Elem., it is close to Zone A. Is it possible that it can flood? Also there is a lot of construction, a big hole, could that cause flooding or structural problems for the existing building.

FEMA is a waste unless they are handing out prepaid debit cards I can use at a strip club.
