I had Sunday brunch with some friends at Lake Anne in the ritzy Italian place there on the water. There was a film crew there and they were filming these three ladies having lunch. Lots of bright lights, microphones and one gay guy checking the ladies makeup. They cameras followed the ladies in and out. A couple camera men even got in the cars with the ladies when they left.

There was also a big white van a with huge roof rack on it and big black boxes. I walked over and asked the guy what was going on and he said they are the same production company that does Real Housewives of Orange County on Bravo, but they are starting a "film test" 5 episode of the Housewives of Fairfax County.

He wouldn't tell me the names or a lot details, but what I figured out is that it appears to be two ladies from Clifton, three from Great Falls and two ladies who live on one of the lakes in Reston.

The guy said they were also doing screen tests to find some others for the series.

Real Wives of Fairfax County? How exciting! I suppose they will do some footage
of them coming out of Costco. Wow! Then here they are coming out of Wegmans!

There's going to be footage of these houswives sitting around writing posts on the redistricting thread, and a few scenes of them doing the ZUMBA.

I guess it's sorta cool to have a show being filmed here- I just cant figure out who the heck watches this kinda stuff.

Litsa Mattfeld, Neen, Tricki, a couple of broads from the redistricting thread, Radiophile and Vince.

Ill watch it if there is nudity and violence. Must have at least an MA rating.

that really is exciting. I've been thinking that 0range county isn't that much different than a lot of people around here. Time to represent the 703 and make it known!

I would watch the show. Wait, I already do! Except those women in Orange County are getting boring. We need fresh meat. I am looking forward to this if it turns out to be a real show. Are there gated communities in Fairfax County just like in that Coto place???

The reasons Real Housewives of OC was successful were

1. Interest already there due to "The OC" and "Laguna Beach" shows.
2. Warm weather = more bikinis and parties to film
3. Frivolous California culture is entertaining.

No one wants to watch a bunch of spoiled lawyer's wives from a generic suburb like Fairfax go shopping at Tysons II wearing coats, sweaters and scarves. Or sitting on volunteer boards. Or whatever they do with their free time (because it's not sitting by a pool in their bikinis drinking like on the OC show).

Our rich people are so much less tacky than California's rich people. And the tacky factor is half the appeal of a show like that.

Besides the culture is different in NoVA. The wives here don't get plastic surgery as they get older. The husbands divorce them, get a hot trophy wife, and the first wife gets half of everything, becomes a lesbian and lives with her "life partner" in a $750K condo in Ballston.

Do their kids go to South Lakes or Langley

Borloff will be hosting the Fairfax edition of this show.
