who picks up dead deer carcasses?

Does anyone know if we call VDOT or the county to report a deer carcass to pick up? The stench is horrible. I've also been forced to learn the muscular anatomy of one section of the deer.

Animal Control picks them up. Animal Control is part ofthe police in Fairfax.

Oh...they are REALLY busy (from what I've read) so may take awhile to get there.

Use the nonemergency number: http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/police/

Forgot to mention - AC picks up dead deer if they're a "danger" to humans - like in the road. If they're dead in the common area woods they're just going to stay there recycling.

VDOT should be the way to go, I dunno if Animal Control does it as well, but I have seen VDOT doing it throughout the years.

Ditto on the VDOT picking em up. I've seen the trucks cruising along the parkway picking up the multitudes of deer that get hit there.

I heard they are picked up by a road crew of mentally disabled adults who ferry them straight to the meat department of the new Fresh Market in Vienna, VA.

Not very appetizing.

I had one die next to my front porch after being hit by a car. I called AC, They would not pick it up on private property. I called VDOT, they only pick up dead deer fron the roadways. I promptly grabbed that poor deer by the hind legs and dragged it out to the double yellow line in the road. Guess what? VDOT removed it about two hours later.

Animal Control doesn't pick up deer carcasses at all. Also if you have an injured deer, all they'll do is put it down.

As stated before, if the deer is on private property you're in charge of removal. If it's on a state highway, it's VDOT. So move the carcass on to the side of the road and let VDOT know it's there.

Animal control will never pick up a dead animal unless it is something that needs to be investigated. If the animal is on the side of the road it will be vdot. If it is on your property than it is your responsibility.

I thought it was gone, but they just dragged it about 3 feet further into the middle of the grass median. (trail of fur). When they mow eventually will the bones fragment in the blade and shoot all over the road?

The stench may be affecting the golfers at this point at Burke Lake.

oh my god, what the fuck is wrong with those parents? instead of telling their daughter to immediately drop a dead, potentially disease infested rodent they film her?! i bet they have a whole collection of these little home movies. next up: watch baby girl smear her nasty filled diaper all over the walls and then use it like finger paint.
