Burglary/Abduction/Assault in Franconia
Franconia Police District – A 5-year-old girl was abducted from her home and assaulted.
Police were called to a townhouse in the 7000 block of Brocton Court for the report of a break-in shortly after 4 a.m. on Saturday, August 27. During the preliminary investigation, officers and detectives determined that an unknown male forced entry into the home, went upstairs and took a 5-year-old girl from her bed. The victim’s parents were alerted to the crime when the little girl made her way back to the home. According to initial information, the victim was taken to a nearby location sometime between midnight and 4 a.m. There are indications that she sustained trauma to the upper body before being released by the suspect. She was transported to a local hospital where she is being examined and treated for non life-threatening injuries.
A K-9 team responded along with detectives and crime scene technicians.
There is no further description of the suspect at this time.
Police are asking for the public’s assistance in providing any information about possible suspicious activity and or persons in the area of this crime. Please be vigilant in locking your doors and windows and leave outside lights on whenever possible.

Sympathetic but skeptical about some facts

After reading the Wash. Post story on this in the Metro section, I came away horrified (of course). I also came away with a shadow of doubt about the abduction part of this case. Here are my questions:
Why would someone vicious enough to abduct and attack a young child release him or her? (It wasn't clear to me from the newspaper account whether the child escaped or was released, but release would seem out of sync with such a brutal crime and an escape is hard to believe given that the perpetrator would have been strong enough to abduct the child presumably against his or her will in the first place.
Why wouldn't other family members hear the abduction taking place and intervene? In my house, we certainly would hear and go into defense mode right away if our children were in distress; just last night, I woke up both times two of them got up to use the bathroom (even though they never said a word), and we always hear when our toddler occasionally awakens early and cries out.
Is there any possibility that this child was abused by someone familiar and that the abduction story was concocted in order to at least get the child medical help?
Now let me emphasize that these are only questions I think should be asked in an investigation. Everyone should be presumed innocent until proven guilty, of course. Also, I do not wish to further victimize this child's family members assuming that this vile act is truly the work of a stranger.
And everyone in the area--and beyond--should take all due precautions to keep their own children safe in case the attacker is still at large and a threat to other random victims.

There is certainly reason to be skeptical, and the parents do need to be cleared. However, even if it wasn't the parents that doesn't mean it was a stranger, and with the injuries being described so vaguely it's quite possible that, if this occurred as is being reported, the assailant may have thought she was dead (if she lost consciousness, for instance) and left her there.
There being so little specific information given here I suspect the police don't entirely buy the story. If there was no doubt some maniac broke into a house and kidnapped and beat a child one would generally expect more concern from the authorities. Then that could be a "don't cause a panic" thing.

There are alot of problems with this story.
1). A stranger sneaks into someone's else and takes off with a 5-year with no one hearing them?
2). There is no description for the suspect. Was he black or white? There is nothing.
3). The 5-year old returned to their home after being assaulted. Some trauma on the upper body, but not clear if the child was sexually assaulted. I'm thinking...Parents, Child abuse, and stupid cover story to hide that fact.

There's all kinds of stories of kids being abducted from their homes without anybody knowing.
Some kids (and even adults) get so terrorfied of seeing an armed person in their house that they just prefer to close their eyes and pray that the monster goes away (not kidding).
And even after the home invader/kidnapper leaves the home with the child, a sibling who saw it happen might stay frozen in bed for hours out of terror.
And the parents never heard a thing.
I've heard about this happening multiple times.
The lesson is clear: Get a security system, always turn it on, get a dog, get a firearm and learn how to use it and store it safely around children (they're crafty buggers - so it's better to teach them how to use it in order to take away their curiousity rather than just relying on a gun lock alone).
And oh yeah, keep the nigs, spics and muslimes away from you because they commit the most crime.
A few months ago, I think an illegal immigrant broke into someone's home and raped their 8-year-old daughter here in Fairfax if I remember correctly...

I agreed with MurderousSaint. At the age of 16 is fully aware of what is morally wrong and right. He is a sick bastard and deserved to be savagely raped, torture, and have a long and agonizing death. He's committed such a heinous crime this early in life...if he walks free I cannot imagine the severity of the next crime he commits on another innocent victim who would have to suffered at the hands of this monster. He would only grow to get stronger and smarter on covering up his crime.
Animals such as him deserve no place in this world and should suffered a painful agonizing death. In that list should include all the sex offenders, murderers, rapist, etc.
I had suffered many years ago at the hands of this kind of animal, he was a family friend whom supposedly was given the responsibility to care for my sister and I while my dad was far away instead he molested and repeatedly raped me for almost a fucking year. I buried all this terror so my sister and I could survive. I'm in tears just expressing this much of my detrimental past. In the early 1980s, there wasn't if any prevention/help awareness of such sadistic crimes on a child. It was a different society then.

To whom it may concern.
First of all I want to say I really appreciate what you all do. Saying this I have asked this before but I haven’t got any response yet. My name is Getnet Tiku. I am wondering if it is ok for someone to post my information online where it can be accessed by anyone. I don't think it is right just because people have traffic ticket on the past to post their information in connection with other crime. I am asking whoever post it to take it down please. We can all prevent crime without invasion of other people right.
