Tell me about it. Good school? Full of dweebs? Should I send my 6 y.o. there?

My neighbors went there then to TJHSST for high school. They're really smart. Both ended up at Ivy League schools. I think that place is legit but they wear stupid looking unis.

I know several families who send their children there, they are all different grades. They all like it but all of them also say it is very academically intense. One parent said that they discourage parent help at home because they want their students to do it in the manner they teach. In other words they would rather have them come to the teacher then learn to do, say a math operation, in a way not taught at school. She thought this was good for her as it meant less homework help at night but I would not see that as a positive necessarily. However they all felt that the work, while intense, made the school excellent. I guess the bottom line is if you want more of a relaxed environment I would steer clear but if you want a prep school experience it is a good choice.

My son went there for kindergarten and first grade. The classical education program is great but they don't believe in learning differences between students. My son has ADHD and they wanted him to repeat first grade even though he was in the 90th percentile on standardized tests. We went elsewhere there is flexibility in learning styles and he is doing great.
