GMU police extending reach beyond the campus?

Drive thru the area quite often late night, 10 pm or later, and nowadays see frequent stops made by gmu police off campus on braddock and route 123. even hhad one eyeball me right by the nursing home on university dr.

what gives? I hadn't noticed this kind of stuff in the past. do they get some of the money from tickets they issued. and i wouldn't say there's a shortage of county and fairfax city cops

Looks like they have jurisdiction "upon the streets, sidewalks, and highways, immediately adjacent thereto"
