I think many of the claims and accusations about Oakton are uncalled for. Oakton is a good school and people need to back up the claims about Oakton with facts!

what are the claims and accusations that your talking about? i went there and cant think of anything wrong.

Oakton sucks, pretty much all high schools do because nobody wants to get up at 6 in the morning five days a week and go to 7 worthless classes that give hours of busy work with no relevance -every day.

However, Oakton is good in the sense that it will prepare you well for college. I mean, probably most people that went there DID'NT hate it, this is probably about as good a complement your gonna get from former students from any high school in the area.

Don't get me wrong. I have no problem with brown people. In fact, I know many of them. There is Jose, my gardener; Juanita, my maid; Raoul, the guy who washes my cars on weekends; the other Jose, the guy I buy coke from; and Alejandro, the tango instructor my wife takes lessons from six times a week (twice on Saturdays).

Well, this thread continues to make me prouder and prouder to be an Oakton High alumnus. Go cougars.

Don't get me wrong. I have no problem with brown people. As long as they are here legally. There is Jose, my gardener, who, as it turns out, was arrested in another state for possession of child pornography. Then there’s Juanita, the maid, who was always calling her family/friends in Mexico, from my house, while stealing the silver, and who could forget Raoul, the guy who washed my cars on weekends and then squandered his money on coke. They were all here illegally, with fake ID’s.

I just don't want my precious Biff and Muffy going to school with these people. I’m afraid that their behavior might negatively influence my kids. My children have great dreams about their futures and I don’t want garbage getting in the way of their success.

I hope to impress upon my children that government programs meant to help people are in reality only helping a government become larger and more powerful. The more bureaucracies it can create, the less freedom my children will have. I want my kids to live in a country where achieving success and attaining wealth is not forbidden, because as we know, Communism was and remains a failure. I don’t want my children to live in a world where the government is in control of the country’s wealth.

I hope my children become powerful activists/attorneys/etc., who will fight to keep to keep this country a place where someone can achieve whatever he or she desires. I hope my children understand that many will be jealous of their success and that he/she should ignore their ignorant condemnations. I hope my children understand that these same people will canonize an equally successful person, simply because he/she promises to give them something for free.

We need more students so we can have more photography and culinary arts classes. Hopefully the kids coming from Navy like cooking photography.

I am a current senior at Oakton, and I honestly can't see what makes it any better of worse than any other school in the county. I think the biggest difference is that Oakton is the base school for many kids who live in some of the richer areas of the county and there is a constant big push to get kids to do more APs and Honors classes.

I was stupid enough to believe that the # of AP courses that I took would make a difference on the colleges that I got into, so I signed up to take 4 this year. I only now realized that AP classes did not have an affect on my college acceptance, and it was really unnecessary to risk my GPA by doing that.

The reason why Oakton is rated fairly high compared to other schools is because of the percentage of students taking APs. The faculty constantly tries to get students into AP classes, just so that the school will have better stats.

Oakton sucked, I only went there for a year and a half until i got kicked out. That school had the worst kids and worst admistration ever. Most of the students are all rich white or diplomats who act white and preppy and need my foot shoved up their ass. The admistration is the most racist i've been seen. The rich kids would do the most retarded things ever just for attention, like sticking their balls in a teachers cup. But.... nothing happens to them other then maybe a couple days suspension but....I got caught with a little weed bowl with no weed at all and Im kicked asap...wtf!!!

I'm sure a lot of schools are like this now. I've come across some d-bags from Oakton. One kid's parents let him and his friends drink at their house. Probably because they knew he needed a way to buy friends since he was such a douche. They would drink 2-3 times a week. That's good college preparation.
