As I said, and I'm sure this will get moved...Holy Mother of God! I just got a $125.00 photo flash speeding ticket from 395 N/SE SW Freeway for ELEVEN FRICKING MILES OVER THE SPEED LIMIT!!

Please, if there is any hint of humanity out there, is there a way out of this??

Seeing how you posted in this forum, it shows you don't obey the rules. That will be a $100 fine. When you eat at someone's table, you dance to his tune

Let's get this straight. In your world the only people who are entitled to complain about the size of the fine are the ones who AREN'T caught?

FWIW I think $125 is about what the fine would be in Virginia for doing 11 over the speed limit once you added in the court costs.

I can't remember the last time I had a ticket for a moving violation that was under $100. Pay it and watch your speed in the District next time.

On first receipt, throw any photo ticket in the trash. Make the ticketing entity verify you received the summons. These tickets are issued by a private contractor, who then gets a portion of the fine, if you pay it.

Sounds like $70 court cost and $5 for each MPH over the speed limit. That's very close to VA (haven't gotten a ticket in several years but used to be $65? )

You'll rarely find < $100 tickets because that would mean you're only doing 5 mph over, and no one's going to ticket you for that.

Yes, do this so any additional fees / fines / interest + black marks on your license can accumulate appropriately. Just throw the ticket away, and wait a few months for the grand results. Great Idea!!!

Do not let some ass, who thinks they know some bull-shit loophole get you into more trouble...

Pay the $125 - and take your medicine.

------------

Next up will be a post, in detail, about how avoiding the ticket and making them "prove it" + some story about a "friend", or themselves, did this and it worked out great. That post will all be bull-shit...

You made a mistake, the penalty sucks, but do you really think that just ignoring it will make it disappear? Be honest with yourself...just ask this ONE question:

If the ticket was issued by a police officer in person, would you think there was a way "out" of it? There is your answer - listen to the kangaroo court here or the internet attorneys and see the results in a few months when that shit catches up with you...

Peace

This is reason #156126 not to drive in DC.

I am surprised it is only $125.00 DC has to raise revenue so they can keep all the welfare babies in pampers

State Congressmen Dave Albo is always trying to increase the fines on speeders, because he's a douchebag republican.

Make every speeding ticket START at $750 and go UP from there...

There would be a change in the driving habits of the NOVA / DC area.

Yep, and traffic would be much worse.

Thank heavens we elect people into office rather than having idiots on FFU make the laws.

Traffic would actually run much smoother...it is basic physics - having everyone travel the same speed on the long expanses of roads would produce a "flow" that would be at a consistent speed and actually make traveling from A to B shorter in time - verse doing 80MPH and then 15MPH over and over, not to mention the reduced amount of accidents (which bring traffic to a stop) that are a daily occurrence.

I will admit, it would be a drastic change, but after a while and people seeing the positive results (shorter TIME) on their commutes I would guess that the commute itself would be less stressful and I know it would be safer.

The few people still trying to do 80MPH would be met everyday with a steady flow at 60MPH and have nowhere to go - no swerving in and out of lanes because all lanes would be around the same speed. Even the flow of people entering and exiting the roads would improve due to the consistent flow.

A theory that has absolutely no evidence to support it due to tons of confounding factors -- not the least of which is the fact that the highway capacity around here sucks, so there will always be congestion during rush hour.

Those cameras aren't exactly hidden. You must be pretty fucking stupid to speed by one. Stop whining like a bitch and just pay your ticket.

Does anyone know Where, EXACTLY, is this speed camera mounted. supposed to be SE SW freeway at 9 th st. Everytime I'm on the freeway, I'm going the 40 mph speed limit because I don't know where it is and everyone is whizzing past me. I've looked and looked, can't see it. help please. It's supposed to be one of the three "busiest" cameras in dc.

Why does it matter where the cameras are mounted? Watch your speed instead of looking for cameras and ways to beat the system.
