any yall ever train hop round nova? Hoppin' freight cars and backpacking across the us? csx and ns have rail yards here that go all round the us

My father used to do that in the midwest - hop freights to wherever he wanted to go...or wherever they were going. He did the whole hobo bit, not sure for how long - early to mid 1930s. He had some interesting stories...

First of all, if you do this, you are Trespassing. It IS Illegal to stand or walk on the railroads Right-of-Way. Second, you could get seriously injured. And Third, you could be fined and sent to prison/jail if the train has to stop.

Yes. I took the "Intro to Hopping Trains" course through Parktakes this summer. I'm considering taking the advanced class in the fall before I do my first live train hop. I need to log some hours in the simulator first since it can be somewhat of a dangerous activity. I hope these trains have nice espresso bars.
