Do my eyes deceive me but the vietnamese restaurant that was suppose to open in the old TT Reynolds is history without ever opening

noticed the windows are now papered over

From a business owner downtown I know (yes there are still a few standing), it will take near to a million to make the TT Reynolds building safe to occupy at this point.

Wonder if Fairfax City still owns the building?

eligible for historic preservation tax credits?

City officials didn't get the building checked out before buying or primary aim was to drive t.t. reynolds out of business?

The primary reason was almost certainly to drive TT Reynolds out of business. The city wants to 'gentrify' downtown (for lack of a better word), and TT's was seen as a troublemaker. They hated Jeremy (TT's owner) and I'm sure they thought the clientele was a bunch of dirty grungy kids (which we were) that the city would be better without. TT's also got blamed alot for that ghetto 18+ club that was next door... Monsoon? Rain? whatever the fuck it was called.

Unfortunately TT's was one of the last great dive bars in Fairfax and one of the few places that actually had 'character. Now you have a choice between a douchey 'Irish' bar, chicken wings, or a pool hall. And good luck finding decent live bands in fairfax.

I'm biased as I was a regular, but fairfax city fucking blows now that TT's is gone.

patriot's cafe! just down the road a piece....

spent many a liquid friday lunch there when i worked on eaton place, that and watched my buddy's band play to about 13 people.

It's too bad the city didn't allow people to freely choose what they wanted to patronize and they shut down TT Reynolds.

Although I must say every time I went there it was full of loser punks and the music was awful

My buddy used to get plumbing calls over there quite bit and said that there was a huge crack in the sewage line just below the bathroom and he would have to wiggle around in shit and piss.

To think i thought the odd smell was being generated from the patrons.

Food sucked, beer selection sucked, having crappy music blasted in 1000sqft SUCKED and the patrons sucked….yet I still miss it.

I moved away Fairfax and recently returned. I went downtown Fairfax and was shocked by what happened. It really sucks that they destroyed old town Fairfax city. I had a love/hate relationship with TT's. I played there many times, saw Egypt play there, Hearsay and even tried out for the owners band once but I didn't get the gig. I used to meet my old girlfriend there who had a boyfriend and we would always end up doing cocaine in the bathroom together and fucking later that night. Best little shit hole in Fairfax. That was when cops didn't give a shit, let you go with a warning and would even party with you.

There was also Planet Nova, those guys were dicks.

Calling T.T. Reynolds mediocre restaurant and entertainment venue would be a compliment. If you were a guy looking for a meat market where he had a reasonable chance of scoring though, it was your place. I can't remember how many times I heard some woman crying about how some guy picked her up at T.T. Reynolds, banged the shit out of her and never called.
