Anyone know where to buy some venison around here without spending a fortune on it?

Springfield Butcher, but I don't really like the meat there (or the prices).

pretend like you are poor and go to some food bank. Food for Others in Merifield benefits from hundreds of pounds of deer meat that comes from de-population. It's crazy that the unfortunate have access to such expensive meat.

I work with the disabled. Don't really go to the food bank unless you need it but I thought it was worth mentioning that it's interesting that during mating season, there is massive amounts of venison coming in and out of those places.

Maybe Virginia Meat Packing off Centreville Rd.

Wegman's carries venison but you might have to ask for it. Try
Googling: venison for sale Fairfax and you get plenty of results.

being a man would be difficult since I'm a woman. I would have no problem being a "man" about it except for the fact that I don't own a gun, don't really know how to dress a deer and would rather not if I don't have to. I grew up with hunters (Dad, Uncles, Grandfathers, etc.) and watched many a deer being gutted and dressed. Just not my cup of tea, thanks anyway. I'd rather stick to my area of expertise with venison, cooking it.

Any hunters out there (that know how to dress a deer) that want to share, I'm happy to buy some from you.

It's okay for hunters to give their game away but illegal to
sell it.

huh, I didn't know that. Thanks. So, can the butchers that accept donated deers sell the meat to regular consumers or do they have to donate it?
I've bought it at Wegmans before but it's a little pricey to buy it all the time.

Butchers (and other retailers such as Wegman's) sell farm raised venison that has been properly inspected. If you eat wild venison that has been given to you
by a hunter, you're on your own.
