In case ur wondering, DC bands like Rites of Spring, Egg Hunt, Embrace, gray matter, and fugazi started the "emotional hardcore" ( post punk/hardcore) thing that got bastardized by the hipsters and gay bands ur friends emulate.

Here's my final advice for you guys. You can't write songs and you can't play instruments worth a damn. Instead of spending your money getting your photo taken and recording demos nobody will hear, go to you parents' basement, download the Kinks "You Really Got Me" and learn how to play it. Once you have done that, download "Satisfaction" from the Rolling Stones, and learn how to play that. Do this until you have enough songs to cover an hour-long set. Then, go out and play any gig you can get until you know those songs really, really well. Once you have done that...THEN try writing songs.

The fact that you are out taking photos of yourselves like you are an actual band that has done something and then you put the crap out that you do tells me you guys aren't serious. Get serious. Learn some real tunes, play them until you are good at them, THEN try to be "ALL FIVE HERBS AND SPICES." Until then, you ARE posers.

I appreciate your advice. Were spending hours cleaning up the grime and making everything fresh. I said no to the video because its not band-friendly, and we have a long way to go beforehand.

About the name, we are in the process of coming up with a new one, because "All Five Seasons" sounds like were just trying too hard. Furthermore, there's no meaning to it.

Again, I appreciate your advice. Were always looking for some input. Take care.

Are you really going to say that The same riff being played over and over is real music? Just because classic rock came first, doesnt make it better. WTL has no sense of music at all

Actually, appreciating our advice would include heeding it, but I digress. You guys are free to spend your (or your parents) money anyway you want. All I'm saying is that you are taking shortcuts that no successful band has taken...meaning your band probably won't be particularly successful. You may think learning covers is boring, lame and time-consuming. But the fact is it will help you learn to write actual songs that are good. Right now you think you are better than you are, which limits the chances of your ultimately being successful.

What I'm saying is that if you can't manage to play the same riff over and over again..in time, in tune and on key...there's no point in trying to do anything else. It's like trying to run a marathon when you can't even walk. You are going to end up flat on your face.

Its our money. None of our parents support us. I understand what you're talking about. I've been playing drums for eleven years though. We have so much better coordinated songs. Covers are not boring, you can't really start without them. I promise you I'm helping the rest of them out and we have good quality and in tune and time-consistent songs that are going to be released. Every band makes their mistakes, and this happens to be one of ours. Not the first, and certainly not the last.

You have a good attitude, Herndon. No wonder the fans are crazy about you.

Guys, your biggest challenge is to knock this guy off the mountain top. He has dominated the music scene between here and Richmond for years. He owns FFU.

Let's be honest. If Meade got rid of his horrible drummer in favor of Herndon, they'd be unstoppable.

Okay, it's been fun giving these guys a hard time, but they are a group teens who probably get shit at school for trying to be different. I'm done commenting about them. Hope they find success in whatever they do.

I like the drummer's attitude too and wish them luck. I think one or two of his bandmates may be in it for image more than music but that's their business and good luck to them. I think the drummer will find a nice band to play with in college.

Maybe if they didn't spend so much time applying make up they'd actually spend time practicing.

When Herndon's band members see this thread (i mean besides the one who started it), they're probably going to want to kick Herndon out of the "band." Which would be a superb career move for the young drummer.

Why would they kick him out if he is their only saving grace. lets face it, they suck. why would they kick out the only talented person in their band? Herndon is trapped... WE MUST FREE HIM

Really? All you posters are judging this band only because you didn't like a video recording of one of their songs that was still in development? How about you all wait and listen to their actual demo when it comes out before unleashing your opinion. They're nice guys.

"Herndon" has the proper mindset!

I think it is a first impression issue. Make the good demo the first thing you put out there. No doubt they are nice guys, but if you are marketing yourself you need to put stuff out there where peoples' conclusions are predictable and what you want, as opposed to expecting people to see through the flaws and conclude "yeah that would be awesome if it were together." If a song is rough, if you are going to publish it at least make sure stuff is in tune and the band sounds tight together.
