Verizon vs Cox in FFX

Alright, I'm sick of the "cox" at "cox", as they appeared to have raised their rates without sending a notice. Nice. So anyone here, what have your experiences been with Verizon tv/internet/phone bundles in Fairfax? Do they still suck, or suck less, that it makes it worthwhile to go with them.

Thanks for any advice, especially regarding television service, net speed, and how Verizon compares to Cox with these.

but FIOS will do the same thing. in addition, when a slew of new channels come out, be prepared to not get some of them, and be prepared for those "some" to be ones you really want. then, when you call and ask, they'll tell you in order to get them you need to switch plans, ergo, pay more per month.

when i signed up i got full "regular" and "expanded" basic, sports tier, all pay channels except HBO and Skinamax, and the premier HD package ( all channels that came in HD, i got ). well, more channels were added, HD and non-HD, and lo and behold i wasnt getting all of them. after several rounds of this, especially when speedtd and spike came out in HD of which i wasnt "authorized" to get, i looked into. of course they changed the tiers, and the pricing, and if i wanted the half dozen to 10 new channels out of the 50 or so they released, my bill would have gone up about 30 to 40 dollars a month.

there's no denying the service FIOS provides, i JUST had my first video outage last night/this morning after 3+ years of no outages. only had one internet drop a couple years ago, and that was a regional drop, not a local one.

basically, only time i lose internet or TV is when the power goes out. but, everything else about verizon is just a scummy scammy as the rest.

i'm seriously contemplating dumping them, sucking it up and dealing with cox's service issues for a year, so i can get locked into cox's "bundle" pricing, then after a year dumping them and going back to verizon. rinse and repeat.

Glad to hear the service is good, but the same nonsense. Ugh, the cable companies are doing exactly what the phone companies did back after some competition was allowed. Funny, I guess I'll do exactly what you did, because that seems to be the only way. A shame that Verizon and Cox both do this, and its really annoying. Yet you are right, rinse, and repeat lol. Thank you for your info, its very much appreciated.

We've had Fios for internet service for 3-4+ years now. Never had an outage. We have DirecTV and our outages are few and far between (maybe once a year during a really, really bad storm). We have voip via Ooma and it's decent.

We thought about ditching DTV for Fios a year or so ago, but since we have a DVR on five tvs now, we'd have to pay an extra $100 to be able to record on five tvs w/ fios. (Yes, I know I can record in one room and watch it in another, but I want to have the ability to pause live tv in ALL my rooms. Fios doesn't do that unless you have a dvr on that tv.)

I don't know why anyone would choose cable vs. satellite, but can understand if you're limited (e.g., line of sight, apartment, etc.). HOAs cannot prevent you from getting satellite (see FCC regs on receiving television transmissions).

That's my 2ยข if you want to chew on something else.

If your neighborhood is wired for Verizon fiber optics to your residence, FiOS provides reliable service, the *best* full bandwidth high definition TV (no compression), very high speed broadband service that does not degrade based on your neighbors' usage, and very competitive pricing.

As a DISH Network customer of four years I can truly say I made the right move switching from cable to satellite. My bill has gone down, I've got the best HD in the industry, and the lowest all-digital pricing in the nation. I've worked at one of the DISH call centers for about a year now, but my bias comes from the time I've been a customer, and the level of service I've received since the switch. I'm very happy with my Fios connection, although their tech support is garbage.
