Now that it's shut down, anybody know what's going to go in its place?

I wouldn't bet the farm on that, what with Lotte Plaza right behind it and all.

Yes it's confirmed that the Shoppers is being shut down. I heard about this 3 months ago.

That shopping center wouldn't have a prayer of taking a Wegman's. Have you ever been to one?

I bet a Korean grocery store or bar. A Spanish grocery store or bar. A middle eastern grocery store or bar.

It won't be a Wegmans. Wegmans only builds from the ground up. They won't take over existing space and refurb it. It doesn't fit their design, which is consistent everywhere you find one.

Shoppers is a scum hole, so its not a big loss. Probably a Grand Mart or H Mart going in if I had to guess. Or Harris Teeter, since people seem to think those are great for some reason and they build them everywhere.

There is a HT just recently opened about 4 miles east. Do not think we will see that one there.

The former Shoppers is very close to Lotte Plaza, which would seem to mitigate against the opening of another Korean supermarket. That said, Lotte's tilted more international (specifically Indian) of late, which may be perceived as an opening for a "pure Korean" competitor a la Hanaro Food in Centerville.

They are opening a Wal-Mart with a full grocery store at DC Expo center, so it probably is not a good idea to open another grocery store in the Sully shopping center. What the Chantilly area needs is a modern stadium style movie theater, but the sully shopping center does not have enough room for that.

You have got to be kidding me Wegmans would never open in that dump of a shopping center. Wegmans could consume that dump......and all
chantillians would never let that jewel "backyard steakhouse" go. So forget
Wegmans
