Beacon Street had a great bar.

I knew one of the managers there back in the mid-90s, he would let us in there after it closed, and we'd hang out and drink top shelf liquor for free, and he'd cook stuff for us. Great bar indeed!

BTW, when did the place close down?

I went to Beacon Street once. I can't remember the food, but I know the service really sucked ass. You can get away with shitty service if you are running a top-tier restaurant. But if it is a knock-off of Applebee's, like Beacon Street was, it is death.

LOL! For CHS homecoming I remember going to Marco Polo in Vienna, and I remember thinking it was sooo far away :-)

Since the topic has changed, do you CHS people remember going "behind the fence" out the back door of vocational, to go to Greenbriar for lunch? I remember all of the graffiti on the fence back there. I was there a while ago and saw that they put a cinderblock wall where the hole was, so the students cant get back there now.

Also...Roy Rogers was the hangout during 3rd period. I remember almost the entire school used to skip and go there. There & Anitas!

Can anyone remember or have pics of what Greenbriar center used to look like before they converted it? 87-88

LOL....if you ever want to see them again, just go to Backyard or Blue Water...they are always there (McKinney/Haddock). Haddock and Ms. Rodriquez divorced a few yrs back b/c of an affair she had with a student in my class!

I remember what it looked like...but dont have pics. If you go to the site www.norvapics.com, they have a ton of pics from the area 20-40 yrs ago. It used to be free to view them, but now I think it costs $5 for a month pass.

I do remember the High's where 7-11 is, and the old People's Drug next to Giant. Far East kitchen is still rockin too! Prob the best Chinese in the area, IMO.

there are a few pictures of the "old" center in the greenbriar "history" book. You can find a copy at the Chantilly library, or buy one at the UPS/Mailboxes etc. shop.

I have a few pictures from the "pre-mcdonalds" days. Shell was an ARCO, Giant was where CVS is now..... the field where Shenandoah Crossing is now, and the trees/rocks in that field.

One time I even drank a beer. I got totally drunk. Throwing up all over the place. Fell down and hurt my head. Even had a black eye in the morning. I guess I got into some kind squabble but couldn't remember a thing.

I think it was the combo of the cigarettes and the beer.

The original Route 50

It was just a simple little path. I used to ride my horse along this trail many years ago. That was the only way I could get to the Old Corner Store, where I used to buy milk.

I went through my old black and white prints and found this picture. Hard to believe Chantilly High School now sits where the old store used to be. Damn shame...that's all I have to say...damn shame.

I can't believe you guys remember all this stuff, I thought I was the only one. Although I think Giant used to be where Marshalls is now and CVS had the entrance on the other side. They never moved People's Just everything else.

Hey SE,
Did you work at Memphis in the 96-98 timeframe, because me and my brother were there for the opening of that place and the Reston one. Actually at one point I was the Kitchen Manager at Greenbriar and he was the Kitchen manager at Reston. I wonder what ever happened to Stan, and Miguel, and Scott Soren. isn't he selling mortgages now.

Oh yeah, Beacon Street opened after 96 Because they stole a couple servers and Bartenders from Memphis, and we opened memphis in late 96

Then I don't know if any of you have seen this but their is a homeless guy over there who can't be over twenty, he has asked me for money and ciggeretes on two different occaisons

OMG! HAHAH! Yes, I was there....Stan was such a nasty pervert!! Ew!! I was 17 when I worked there and he hit on me and my friends all the time. So I guess that was 96/97. Jamie Bakers mom was our Mgr too...I forget her name. She moved to Ohio. I just remember she used to sit in the way back by the bathrooms, drink coffee, smoke & act like she was doing the "schedule" all day, lol. I dont think I knew Scott Soren though...??

Do you remember the cook Ezequiel? He lived in Shenandoah Crossing?

Also, Matt Dawson worked there as a cook too...he was killed on Rt 50 either in highschool or right after....we used to get in mustard slaw fights in the kitchen. Good times :-)

I don't think Franklin Farm ever had a Power Video. It had a Forbes Video and then a Video Warehouse, but I don't remember a Power Video (since 1990 or so, anyway).

I'm getting on in years and the old noggin ain't what it used to be but I can still remember the old days when people didn't lock their doors, when a man's word meant something and when families stayed together and enjoyed the simple things in life.

During the winter, we practically lived in our snowshoes. Before global warming, we used to have giant snowstorms which would last for days. We would wait till the blizzard died down, then off we would go, tracking along this beautiful path which in now better known as Rt. 66.
