Beware - two italian guys in SUV - scam artists (emporio a collezione)
Posted by: happyinva ()
Date: June 18, 2011 05:17PM

Two Italian guys driving a Mercedes SUV pulled up to me at KMART off of rt 50 in Fairfax asking for directions. I thought I was doing a good deed and gave them directions. The one guy asks me if I speak italian and if I like Armani. After some pleasantries he offers to give me a jacket as a gift as he is driving to Boston to catch a flight back to Italy and has extra jackets. My instincts told me to walk away, yet I stood there while he gave me 5 leather jackets (Emporio a Collezione) brand and how he did not want to pay for shipping these. He then asks me to help him with gas money as he only has Euros. He shows me his airline tickets, his passport. I gave him $200.00 while alarm bells are going in my head.

I got home and realized, the jackets are very nice imitation leather.

Same thing happened to me over in the parking lot by Jason's deli. Only thing, I didn't give the two dudes any money and told them I wasn't interested in their jackets. It was fishy from the jump. One dude told me that he sold designer suits in Italy (gave me a card) and the other said he made the interiors in Ferrari's. SCAM.

Reminds me of this scam:

---------------------------------

A"heads up" for those men who may be regular Home Depot customers.

Over the last month I became a victim of a clever scam while out shopping. Simply going out to get supplies has turned out to be quite traumatic. Don't be naive enough to think it couldn't happen to you or your friends.

Here's how the scam works:

Two seriously good-looking 20-21 year-old girls come over to your car as you are packing your shopping into the trunk. They both start wiping your windshield with a rag and Windex, with their breasts almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts. It is impossible not to look.

When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say "No" and instead ask you for a ride to another Home Depot. You agree and they get in the backseat. On the way, they start undressing. Then one of them climbs over into the front seat and starts crawling all over you, while the other one steals your wallet. I had my wallet stolen November 4th, 9th,10th, twice on the 15th, 17th, 20th, & 24th 29th. Also December 1st, 4th, twice on the 8th, 16th, 23rd, 26th, 30th, three times last Saturday and very likely again this upcoming weekend.

So tell your friends to be careful.

P.S. Walmart has wallets on sale 2.99 each

The only factual problem I can find with your story is that wallets do not cost 2.99 each at Walmart... they are 2.97.

Same set up. Asks for directions, asked if i spoke italian, offered to sell me clothes, flashed a pocket book of 12 credit cards with a shit eating grin across his face yadda yadda yadda. Except, it was one olive skin dude driving a BMW. .

What are you guys complaining about? I just got 6 jackets for $260, 1 womens, and 5 mens from this same dude and you know what, they look great. My wife looks hot in that leatherette tight euro jacket and i cant wait to wear mine. I thought this guy was for real too, as a matter of fact , this is the second time i bought from him and i believed his story two times!! But you know what, i want his Armani and Dolce Gabbanna suits, if i can get these sharp knock off for 150 bucks i want them, they are $1500 at Holts.

So stop crying, and start sporting your new knock offs that know one has to know.

Same scam in Home Depot Merrifield 11/21/2011. Italian in appearance guy driving a silver gray Infinity SUV, VA tag, asking for direction to go to JFK to catch a return flight home to Italy. He was on a business trip and lost all his money & wallet. He had to change his flight to go back to Italy and needed $160 to change his ticket. Showed his airline ticket & Passport. Said working for Armani and trying to give 3 leather jackets as gift. Beware.

they Jackets are fake and highly toxic PVC chemicals emitted from them are carcinogenic , and you will get headache, nausea, and the odor from the noxxioius chemical will linger in your sinus and taste for many hourrs later. Your Car will stink for as long as you have these in them and your closet. Someday somebody wi ll see them, demand money back, not get the money, and then the scammers will be shot. It is a no brainer considering how many people they have deceived/cheated/betrayed. in Dante's Inferno, the most tormenting place in Hell is for Traitors, Betrayers, this is their fate. Stop blaming the victim. The criminals will face justice , or karma will catch up with them. Then they will be victims of what they have sown.

Only a fool , or a country bumkin can not tell fake leather by touch. If you like tacky fake crap it's great, but they are frauds and the people selling them are committing a crime by selling the counterfeit as real. They are racqueteering , collusion, and fraud, guilty of counterfeit. Also they are associated with prostitution and child pornography. In short, they are scum sucking swine that would be doing the world a favor by simply being locked up, or whatever

The young man with horrible buzz mohawk hair cut w/ Grey metallic car seen Wednesday night outside Home Depot in Gaithersburg , Md rte 27O exit Shady Grove. Inside car chain of crucifix hanging from mirror, and mother Mary near just below. Claims he is a "Designer" From Armani, gives jackets that he says are real and worth thousands. Says he needs money for Airport. This guy is going to get hurt. He needs to get arrested for his own good . I think they are part of a crime ring that is part of prostitution and child pornography. Probably the young man , who shows probably fake passport paper inside, claims to be Matteo SALVATI.

Best collection of scams was done by Christophe Rocancourt. He targeted rich greedy people primarily. Rocancourt did not target the poor, or even middle class(other than one, a physical therapist). These scum bags target working poor , and as such will unddoubtedly receive far more wrath

this happened to me and my brother well over 10 years ago (loehmanns plaza area), itilian guy in a white suv. Asked for directions back to rt 50 which was only a few blocks away, then asked my bro if he liked armani and said he had a new suit that was a little too small for him but was the right size for my brother. tried to sell it. at first glance any moron can tell neither of us are the type to wear armani lol. he kinda had the girly hair Bono d-bag look to him.

I don't think it's a troll. This very well could be a legit story. Something similar happened to me in Centreville Plaza outside of the Tippy's Taco House. Only it was 2 white guys in a van trying to "get rid," of some speakers. Tehy really weren't being too secretive about it either seeing that they were yelling halfway across the parking lot. Anyways I have heard of Nigerians coming over to Fairfax and doing the same kind of scam only they prey on the foreign airline employees staying in hotels around Dulles.

Same thing happened to me. I was asked for directions on a side street near yonge and finch, in toronto, ontario area. He wanted to show his appreciation by giving me 3 jackets as gifts but said the 4th one was 800$. i told him all i had was 300$ and he accepted and was very polite and kind. He was about 5'6 with black spiky hair, kind of chubby, well dressed and was driving a silver chrysler suv. I really hope he asks me again..... anyway he showed me a car rental bill, and he pulled into a condo building, so i know i can get the license plated, but the cops don't give a fuck anyways, what he's doing is not illegal. The tags match the inside tags, and if you look at the clothing products tag, it'll tell you 20%cotton blah, blah. so really, we are all to blame for failing to notice these things, he is just a con. I REALLY hope i see him again.

Keep your heads up guys don't feel bad, shit happens right. These guys will get what's coming to them sooner or later. I'm from Las Vegas, NV. I can't believe this has been happening this long. Quite a shame too b/c this happened to me this afternoon. I was shopping at a Costco in the Summerlin district and I feel quite the fool now but here's how it went.

An Italian guy with a spiky mohawk type hairstyle, black shirt, and ridiculously big sunglasses drive up to me in a big black Mitsubishi SUV as I'm about to unload my groceries. He first asks for directions to McCarren airport saying that he's going back to Italy. I give them to him and I didn't even finish and he thanks me and gives me his business card, I should have looked at it first but I pocketed it thinking nothing of it, b/c it was an obvious fake. Not only did it look shitty but it had his ph# listed as a US area code, not Italian.

Then he tells me he's in town for a convention and that he got free Giorgio Armani cloths but doesn't want to bring them back to Italy b/c they will tax him. Then he gives 4 to me saying they're gifts, he even had a catalogue of Armani to show me their prices. I should have looked at them, but he was a smooth talker and I got swindled. He then tells me it's his son's birthday and he wants me to give him $500 for an ipod in exchange for the cloths. I should have just walked away at this point, I knew it was fishy that a gift all of a sudden turned into an exchange and I even thought he didn't get all my directions to the airport before he went into this business. I told him I only had $40 and gave them back, he then tells me how about in your bank account. I told him I only had $100 in there, then after pleading for more money he asks for $140 as he got that info out of me (I should have said I don't have a bank account or told him to take a hike). So I go to my bank where he follows me and I glanced at his license plate but he was cleaver he drove up behind me to a spot where I couldn't see it and I forgot to look at it later. And after I gave him the money he pleads again for more but I told him that's the best I can do, so he takes back one of the fake jackets and drives off. And I mean quickly by the time I backed my car out of the lot he was already gone.

When I got home I found this and a few other websites. And if it was a good knock off I'd say I got off cheap and really it wasn't bad considering what he originally asked me for. But it wasn't, besides having a big "A" it didn't have any of the Armani logos, the least these scumbags could have done was use them. One told me to report him to law enforcement, so I did, but they ended up pissing me off even more. The dispatcher told me to come into the station, which was pretty far from my home. But when I got there the receptionist wouldn't do anything saying it was a civil matter. Really asinine!

I also noticed the smell emitting from it and it's way too strong. I might have to just eat my losses and get rid of them, not even cheap jackets to keep. But I have a feeling he's a repeat scammer in the area so I'll try and see if I can run into him again tomorrow looking for more victims. Nevertheless, I should have never even talked to him for one thing HE'S ITALIAN, they come as as the most racist and politically incorrect people I've ever met and this doesn't help my feelings about them.

so i guess we are part of this scam as well. San Antonio, TX

An "italian" guy stops my partner WHEN HE'S WALKING OUT OF THE BANK! Asks him if he likes Armani And offers 3 jackets for $450. He showed him a list of the jackets w/ thousand $$ prices a book, even puts A LIGHTER TO THE BLACK JACKET to show it doesn't burn (apparently proof that its real italian leather). He gives him a card 2 his shop in Italy (address exists, not the store) He tells him he got them from a fashion show he just came from and will pay 2x as much to ship them home to Italy w/ him and needs to take his rental car back before he catches a plane

My partner calls me to ask if he should buy 'em and I tell him don't. We're getting to spring already, winters are hardly ever that cold to need a leather jacket in TX, and it sounds wierd to say Armani is thousands of $$$. I worked at Macy's in the Young Mens dept and these type of jackets barely go past the $600 mark here. My stubborn man buys them for $100. The guy even tries to push him for $150 and give him 6 so my man could sell off the others sizes that were too small for him!!! He only did the 3 tho for $100.

I immediately knew he was ripped off w/ the logos, no tags to say the materials [just a tag that says Made In Italy], and the smell is soooooo overbearing. Never heard of a blue leather jacket either..It's not as bad a burn compared to these other stories I'm reading but it sucks that we are part of this problem. Gonna try to report it anyway. To be continued....

LOL. I would've given them fake money in return and bid them a good day.

Btw, to the OP, five imitation leather jackets could very well be worth $200, possibly even more. A lot just depends upon build quality. Regardless, the guys most likely jacked a shipment of them or have some hook-up, and that's how they make the bread.

The sad part is that people won't know about this unless they are scammed like us and come here to talk about it. Someone needs to do something about it.

Happened to me yesterday, one of the guys, same SUV, business card from Milan, the whole nine yards. As I gave him JFK directions, and said there was a toll on the Tri-Boro, he waved that aside. Not too many minutes later, having shown me all the wonderful jackets he wanted to get rid of--he had been at an industrial show at the Javits Center and didn't want to pay overweight--he said he'd gone to Atlantic City and spent everything. Did I have any money? No. (I should have asked how he planned to pay the Tri-boro toll, but didn't.) So, he suggested, maybe we could go to my bank. Ciao, babe, I was gone. Happily.

I knew they were fake but I couldn't get rid of the guy. Said no over and over, but finally have him $50 for one just so he would leave me alone. Haha

He told me he just want the money to pay his car rental. he even showed me his rental receipt of $380. So he's asking $400 for 4 jackets. me and my co worker has $170 on us and as you maybe already know... we took the 4 jackets for $170. totally regret it now. i hope karma get them soon. :(

Same bold man with silver suv, same fake cards, I went and got the $1000 from the bank and had him load all into my trunk. Then I wiser up and told him my girlfriend who is a policewoman is on her way with the money and to check them out, I pretended to go back to the Bank and the guy drove off!

Same scenario, only this time in Montreal.

Two Italian guys, one young and fashionably dressed (Ralph Lauren sweater, Fendi scarf, nice watch and slim chinos, slightly stained teeth), one older man in a grey suit who remained silent. They were in a new Jeep SUV asked for directions to the airport. They claimed they were flying on to Singapore next, wanted to ship the clothes, but the duty would be too much.

They offered to give me two black leather jackets, one suede jacket, one silver nylon bomber with fur trim. Then they asked if I would help with the car rental (~400). I said no, they tried to talk me down to 200, and I left.

Interestingly enough, the jackets seemed to be of pretty good quality. The design was iffy, but it seemed like real leather and suede. The scammer even used a lighter to show that it was genuine leather (unlike pleather or nylon, which would burn or melt).

Italian passport and immigration stamp seemed to be genuine as well.

Italian passport and immigration stamp seemed to be genuine as well. They seemed like genuine Italians and spoke Italian amongst themselves.

Car rental slip gave an address in London, UK.

All in all, a very well executed scam. I would have given them the money for the jackets anyway, but they were ugly.

Just got approached in Toronto, same as last post. One greasy italian asking directions to the airport. Because i was so "nice" to him it was going to be my lucky day and he offered me 4 2013 Armani's for 500.00. He wanted to use the 500 to buy an ipod for his son at duty free before his flight. lol. He did ask if i spoke italian or french, he pretended like he couldn't understand when i kept saying "this has got to be too good to be true", was always responded with "i do not understand". haha, i even went to the bank and came back and said the machine only aloud me to take out 400.00 because of my daily limit. He accepted and i thought i had a great deal here. He said that it is such my lucky day when he comes back for next years (Harry Rosen) show, i owe him lunch. He is in town for a show from italy of course! i eventually told him thanks but no thanks and he said i just made a stupis mistake. I guess until i googled this i thought he was right. The coats looked and felt good quality. did the lighter trick and everything. I wonder what his cost is on those for him to make a profit? Probably 30 a jacket? He almost had me! what a great scam. I sincerly hope Karma gets this guy or guys! I tell you though if i ever see a white SUV with Quebec plates again the "Policia" will be called... Oh what really gave it away was i asked for a business card and he didn't have one, so he wrote his email down in italy. Not sure why, but a big shot Armani rep from italy has no business card and writes his email which was an @hotmail.com.. i knew something was up. Be aware all.

Either way i have reported the SUV and Quebec plates to the police (doubt anything will happen but they said they have heard of these guys) so you never know. This guy sounds like the one from a few posts ago. Ugly, older guy with thick accent, black hair. Gross teeth. He started with 700, was willing to settle for 150. What a greasy douchebag. I beg Karma destroys this guy! look out for the white SUV and an aging pathetic grease ball.
