Holly Farm's tater' sides w/ PIE! for dessert... brings back memories. Also remember the Red Barn chicken restaurant franchise. You can still see old Red Barn buildings around DC as something else, today. Structures are shaped like an old barn w/ a new name and proprietor.

Does anyone know where you can get fried chicken livers around here? I remember getting them at Holly Farms years ago and I miss em! I think KFC used to sell em back in the 80s, but it was usually only in markets south of Fredericksburg.

Try any one of the Annandale area eateries with Korean/Asian signage.
Ask lots of questions to be sure that you are getting fried chicken
livers and not the pig-anus special. And, drop a couple of Tums
before your feast. You can thank us, later...

Plus one on Ms. Shore's MILF factor...I dunno...it's the whole hairdo, open-necked pink collared shirt...and of course, the innuendo filled pearl necklace that sends me on my way to the sweet release. I'm off to fantasize about dropping my Peter North-ian load right down the inside of that shirt of hers and imagine that she is an absolute anal jihadist...

Safeway may have held interest in Holly Farms but they did not own Holly. Safeway was a big customer of Holly Farms so it would only have made sense to have them close by one another. HF started and its headequarters was in Wilkesboro, NC when the restaurants began. HF later was sold to Tyson but the brand had its headquarters in Wilkesboro.

Safeway did not have stores in our area. My father worked for the transportation division and I worked for two summers during high school for the Holly Farms Foods division also located in Wilkesboro. We made chicken patties, chicken hot dogs and precooked chicken products for schools and cafeterias.

The Lovette family started Holly Farms in Wilkes County and my father used to go with the patriarch of the Lovette family, C.O. Lovette, to farms to purchase eggs, chickens and other farm products to take to hotels and restaurants to resell.

Royal Farms in MD and DE is kind of similar to HF, potato wedges and dinner rolls.

Chicken Livers are the shit though, I need those in my diet.

I knew the cat hospital on Route 1 near Beacon Mall was a Holly Farms (right in front of Safeway!) but I never knew the Taco Lucas down in Mount Vernon was one.

Anyone remember the old walk-up window DQ by the old Groveton Elementary?

The Shakey's potatoes were called mojo potatoes. If I'm remembering correctly you could only get them off the buffet. Best Canadian bacon pizza ever.....

The old walk-up DQ has been a vacant lot for what seems like forever. The parking lot lights were still there until recently. Something new is in the works there....

Haven't had fried oysters in forever. Any place to get them around here? I mean not as part of some $20 app for three oysters and a drizzle of EVOO.

I used to be an assistant mgr. at one of the Holly Farms in NC I was told the bags of seasoning we received for potatoes or Holly Taters, were secret and a royalty was paid to some "bar owner" in the Northeast US who developed it and sold them at his bar.
All I know is we breaded them using a rotating breader just like we did the chicken. The chicken coating was different and arrived in separate bags. We then cooked the 'taters' in a deep fryer for a few minutes and then released the pressure and served them. they were very delicious.....
I would love to know the general ingredients as the fried 'taters' you find at Convenience stores are not the same.
If anyone knows more please advise. If anyone has the recipe, please let me know.... if anyone has a recipe they think is better... I am willing to try it as well....
Thanks and good luck to everyone in 2016

Never did Holly Farms myself, but The internet seems to agree on the basic dredge ingredients for making Holly Taters...

1/4 c. flour
1/4 c. Parmesan cheese
1 tsp. Shake & Bake chicken seasoning
1/8 tsp. black pepper
1/8 tsp. salt

Place seasoned potatoes on a baking pan. Drizzle a stick of melted butter over the top, Bake at 400 degrees for 45-60 minutes.
