I was going pay for a stop sign ticket today but it wouldnt let me. The day of court is Monday.

Can I just go to the courthouse and pay it??

I really dont want to sit there and wait for my name.

Can any one please tell me what I should do?

people who wait until the next to last weekday before their court date to pay a ticket then get stumped by the process (which includes 24hr information phone numbers on the back of the ticket) and need to create a topic on fairfax underground of all places should have to figure this brain buster out for themselves.

If you don't go, you'll be tried in absentia found guilty and have a week (maybe less?) to pay the fine/court costs. If you don't, a bench warrant will be issued for your arrest.

Oh...and there's an additional $20 fine for not showing up....

"If a defendant fails to respond to a summons for a traffic infraction, he shall be tried in his absence and an additional $20.00 trial-in-absence fee shall be assessed. On conviction, the clerk shall send notice to the defendant of the trial in absence and the amount of the fine and costs assessed."

If it is Fairfax County go to the courthouse. Take escalator to second floor, go to general district court clerks office which is straight ahead and to the right. Get there before court starts. Pay ticket. Make note to self, plan ahead.

I'm pretty sure you can pay 24/7 at the magistrate's office. I once did it on a Sunday night when I was due in court on Monday morning. Be sure to keep your receipt!
